Did they tell you the new address where they are moving to? It's not like that time your parents moved and didn't tell you, is it?![]()
The company did tell me where they are moving to. Shocking!![]()
The old days? has there ever been a time that the eagles and beagles haven't had a flame war?So given what's going on in the BU season thread (which Scarlet started, so it's all her fault) are we going to face another flame war between BC and BU fans? Just like the old days?
Twas hilarious. Many laughs were shared amongst the group.

Somebody will start another thread that will blow up just like the old one. Its the nature of USCHOI'm almost ready to delete that thread. And like Ralph said, when hasn't there been a flame war? It's such a mess in there. This Sunday is the team holiday skate. I'm wondering how that will go over.

Every time you delete a thread, dxmnkd whines a lot. Please, think of the whining of dxmnkd.![]()

Which is why I haven't done it.
So, this morning me and the 50+ folks in my department spent the morning at Pine Street Inn for a chop-a-thon. We peeled and chopped carrots, potatoes, sweet potatoes, celery, mushrooms and onions. All totaled we peeled and chopped 1200 pounds of food. This will feed over 4000 people in the next 2-3 days. One of the residents, well, he's not a resident there any more - a homeless guy who was more or less saved by Pine Street Inn, is now in permanent housing and went through the culinary arts program there - spoke to us about what the place has meant for him and he got pretty choked up. It's hard to get worked up over the drama of a college hockey program when you witness firsthand the struggles some people go through in every day life. I'm not trying to get on a soapbox or pontificate, but I was checking this site when I first got there this morning and had to stop because the asinine comments going on in that thread. We didn't do much today but it was such an opposite experience to feeling all twisty and uncomfortable over the trials and tribulations of this week. Does that make sense? It's days like this that make me appreciate my life - my family and friends - because it can change so quickly.
If you want to delete it (which I am not saying that you should), you need to do it very soon, because you can't once it is closed.I'm almost ready to delete that thread. And like Ralph said, when hasn't there been a flame war? It's such a mess in there. This Sunday is the team holiday skate. I'm wondering how that will go over.

Thanks all. Just got home from the wake. When I got there Stu's lime green hotrod (he was a huge 55 Chevy fan) was parked out front. I admit... I immediately teared up. Went inside not knowing what to expect but it took all of about 3 minutes to realize that, while never an easy thing, the family was surprisingly calm. My buddy and I shared a tear or three, as did his mom and I. But, in true homage to a man that was loved by all, one of his lifelong best friends, who was one of the first people there, had slapped an NHRA bumper sticker right on the casket! A fitting tribute and something Stu himself would have done. It. Was. Awesome!Sympathies to MEUSA's buddy.![]()
I didn't bring up Norton. dummy did in a rep. I always get Bob Norton rep.Why did you bring up Bob Norton in a cooking thread? or any thread for that matter?![]()
Happy hockey table!Bellying up once again to the * hockey table.
Taking solace in the fact that the average NMU grad's future involves pitching a tent in a park and getting pepper sprayed![]()
Heard first thing this morning that a very close friend lost his dad yesterday afternoon. He had a bisected aorta (?) or some such thing a week before Thanksgiving which was repaired. Thanksgiving weekend he suffered a minor stroke while in ICU. Between the surgery, the stroke and the meds he developed a bleeding ulcer. Finally, by this past weekend he was off the ventilator, off the IV and starting to eat clear liquids, Jello and the like. In addition, they started him on some physical therapy and were getting him out of bed as often as possible. While a long way from going home, it sounded like he had turned a corner. Yesterday, after a PT session, he collapsed as they were getting him back into bed and they couldn't revive him. Last I heard they were thinking blood clot or anuerysm.
Everyone knew Stu... he was a terrific guy, albeit a simple man. He spent most of his life (he was 71) drag racing anything he could drive down the track. My friend Tim and his dad still fielded a car and went to the track as often as they could (a shoestring budget and 2-1/2 hr rides limited them). I accompanied them to Englishtown, NJ each of the past 4 summers to see the NHRA big boys and Stu would keep us entertained. His trademark was his bright red suspenders, greasy pants and a Yankee's hat... but he still looked like a king (and always acted like a gentleman). He had the biggest hands I've ever seen but was as gentle as baby.
My buddy is a very religious man and has tremendous faith so I think he'll be ok long term. However, I am just feeling great sorrow for the rest of the family being so close to the holidays. I wish there was more I could do to comfort them...
