I knew it would be a tease. ****ing couldn't make the earlier flight by about, oh, 5 minutes. Finding a **** bar in ATL airport terminal A for the next 4 hours, maybe I'll be sober by 11 tonight so I can ****ing drive home and get there by 3 ****ing am. Yep, got off the boat by 7am, home by 3am. 20 ****ing hours of travel.

Bartender, LI iced teas. Preferably 2 at a time. I'll forget about flying in 2 hours, and have 2 more hours to come to.

So we have this team that has come out of nowhere and started dominating the weekly bar trivia I play at with a couple friends. One of the good teams that has been struggling a bit offers to absorb my team to see if we can assemble enough breadth of knowledge to take them down. However, they hit the 8 person limit, so I end up the only one going over to them.

We finish first with a 97 out of 100.

Some of my favorite moments in my college days were with the trivia team I was on (Hurricane Ditka). We were all MSUM students, and would routinely beat the team that was nothing but Gustavus doctors and profs.

I really miss Patrick's. Awesome bar.

I wanted to call a radio show I listen to to bring up "Tech hot" this morning. They were doing a bit about how people rate themselves on a 1-10 scale, and found that Miami is the city that rates themselves highest, and Detroit rates theirselves with some of the lowest scores. So the radio hosts were saying how Miami actually has an attractive population. One host said, "in Miami I might be unattractive, but in Detroit I'm not bad"
That's what made me think of Tech hot

Miami hot > hot > Detroit hot > Tech hot

Jeez. Atlanta is bad, and I'll be the first to admit that flying sucks, but you act like you just got diverted to Amarillo, TX while your friends text you about the awesome party they're at. I hope your travels improve drastically, just the same!

Eh, more of just massive frustration. Finally had a great place to get off the boat (LITERALLY inside Baton Rouge city limits), and the company can't set me up with an earlier flight than 220 departure, 11pm arrival? Then, I'll most likely have to fly back a day early. And I was literally less than 5 minutes from getting on that earlier flight.

This now makes like 3 out of 4 flights now where I haven't had things go my way travelling. Meh, atleast I'll be picking up my newly repaired car tonight and boosting turbo all the way home. That's about the only positive.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 141: We Didn't Start The (* Hockey Table On) Fire

Heard first thing this morning that a very close friend lost his dad yesterday afternoon. He had a bisected aorta (?) or some such thing a week before Thanksgiving which was repaired. Thanksgiving weekend he suffered a minor stroke while in ICU. Between the surgery, the stroke and the meds he developed a bleeding ulcer. Finally, by this past weekend he was off the ventilator, off the IV and starting to eat clear liquids, Jello and the like. In addition, they started him on some physical therapy and were getting him out of bed as often as possible. While a long way from going home, it sounded like he had turned a corner. Yesterday, after a PT session, he collapsed as they were getting him back into bed and they couldn't revive him. Last I heard they were thinking blood clot or anuerysm.

Everyone knew Stu... he was a terrific guy, albeit a simple man. He spent most of his life (he was 71) drag racing anything he could drive down the track. My friend Tim and his dad still fielded a car and went to the track as often as they could (a shoestring budget and 2-1/2 hr rides limited them). I accompanied them to Englishtown, NJ each of the past 4 summers to see the NHRA big boys and Stu would keep us entertained. His trademark was his bright red suspenders, greasy pants and a Yankee's hat... but he still looked like a king (and always acted like a gentleman). He had the biggest hands I've ever seen but was as gentle as baby.

My buddy is a very religious man and has tremendous faith so I think he'll be ok long term. However, I am just feeling great sorrow for the rest of the family being so close to the holidays. I wish there was more I could do to comfort them...

That does sound like a fun drive home. :D Just, make sure the police don't take extra-special attention in you, ok? That would be just about the crappiest way to end travels. :)

That sucks. :( Condolences to you, your buddy and his family.

Oh, it's supposed to be mid 30's, rain and wind. Think they'll want to be out in that stuff? Neither do I. I also have a radar detector, which does help some (obviously not against laser/cop actively turning it on/off for each car)

Don't make me get Multnomah County Sheriff (Ret.) John Bunnell involved.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 141: We Didn't Start The (* Hockey Table On) Fire

You can't really blame her, can you? ;)

No, but one would think if you hadn't seen your husband in 3 weeks you would know the exact time his flight came in. No harm no foul - was able to convince one of my BU buddies who works the next block to join me for one and to commiserate about Terrier hockey stuff. Had a glass of wine, stopped at Regina Pizza on the way home. Now I'm on the couch watching hockey. There is nothing on tonight. I may go to bed early. Well Burn Notice is on, but not till 10pm. Not sure I can last that long.

And on a more serious note - my condolences Mark. :(

I've always found the ratio argument a complete cop-out. If you subtract all of the guys that girls see as un****able because they don't shower and they play video games all day and night, the ratio is probably close to 50/50.

So there's 50 men and 50 women that fit those qualities at Tech?

Ran into some random girl after bar close, who happened to work at a certain company, and knows Dorkisak. Mind. Blown. Oh the fun we had. :D
