Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 140: The Brave Days of Old

I LOVE breakfast for dinner! I had tilapia, brown rice and string beans. That's healthy, right?

Sure. That'll play.
.

Picked up the last of the necessary ingredients for Thursday's dinner, including pumpkin puree and arborio rice. I finally learned how to make risotto this quarter, so why not try it at home?

Tampa is a terrible choice for the tournament. It's a fantastic choice for those of us who would go even if it was in bumf*k, Utah (which, I'm guessing, is a good chunk of those who think Tampa is a good choice). However, I think it's a terrible choice for the NCAA as an organization and fans that don't earmark cash and vacation time towards it.

You probably also think that the NCAA attempting to not allow live twitting of sporting events is a good idea :D

funny. But you're not reading what I said.

I don't think you are reading what you wrote either.

If you don't earmark cash and vacation time for the trip, how else would you go?

If it's within driving distance? :D (Xcel, JLA, and United come to mind.) Sure you devote some cash to it, but it's far less than flying down to Tampa. Obviously with JLA you'd need vacation time but the cost to drive is a fraction of flying.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 140: The Brave Days of Old

IMO, we would have still made it long ago, assuming that we didn't give up. :)
Didn't you have it all figured out on your spreadsheets where we would have hit MAX Rep under the old set up??

Which is why there were no empty seats in the house right? ;)
It wasn't Bemidji's fault that the State of Hockey doesn't all travel to the Frozen Four.

I had French toast and bacon.
I had Meatloaf. And while my mom makes a pretty good meatloaf, Bacon is always going to trump that.

Mom has one of her tea rings ready to go for me, going to go to the girlfriends house right after work tomorrow.

First off, I am not within driving distance. Only if it's here in Boston. Second, if it was driving distance (or I chose to drive) I would have to take an extra day vacation. You didn't answer the question about earmarking vacation time. You have to take vacation to go anyway. I might be able to take one day less if I fly. Which I would have to do if I want to go to the Frozen Four. Unless it was here in Boston. If I have to fly, why not Tampa? People who are not followers of one of the four schools would normally just go, so they'd have to take vacation and book a hotel anyway. What difference does it make if it's in Tampa or St. Paul?

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 140: The Brave Days of Old

Bah! I've made the trip from Jacobs Field to the Twin Cities only stopping for gas. :D

(Seriously)
A - I can't do that anymore. I've done it in the past, and it still sucks.
B - I've been making this trip since 2005. It still sucks.
C - Tolls are going to be going up in Chicago after the 1st of the year. That, too, sucks as I know I'll be making the trip again in the future.
D - We can discuss this over a slice at Pizza Luce at 3am sometime if you'd like. :p

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 140: The Brave Days of Old

Are we actually arguing about hockey in here?

And for a flash from the past~Nighty night nocturnal ones.

I think you missed my point on the arenas I mentioned. Especially with the :D thrown in there. I meant within driving distance of me. Obviously all of them aren't going to be in those three. Nor should it be.

But how does the sport grow with half empty stadiums during the championship game? I hardly think anyone in Tampa is going to wake up on April 8th and say "Dammit, USF needs a college hockey program!"

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 140: The Brave Days of Old

To change the conversation.....

I'm trying to decide if I should go to my high school reunion on Friday. I did not buy a ticket, in fact I was planning to be in NYC for the BU-Cornell game. I am not leaving now till Saturday morning, but wicked early. I still see friends from high school so why would I pay money to hang out with people that I don't remember all that much and wouldn't know me if they stepped over me in the gutter? Seriously, a lot of these people didn't hang out with me when I was in school, I don't want to hang with them now. But, some of my friends are trying to convince me to go. It is local, which is a plus, so I could leave and get home early. I think it's going to be a game time decision.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 140: The Brave Days of Old

My stance on HS reunions can be summed up as follows: what exactly is the point of hanging out with people you either didn't know or didn't like? That strikes me as a colossal waste of time.
