Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 139: The Halloween Edition

Prayers for your dad, LwB.

We had a full department-wide meeting today. At this meeting last year, I was really upset as I felt pretty slighted when my boss' boss presented and talked about all the stuff that we (our group) were all doing, and called out everyone but me, and when he talked about the biggest thing I worked on that year, he mentioned how a designer helped "us" out with that. I actually went to the ladies room and cried for a few minutes. I was really upset. Then I had the whole process with my boss over the next few months where she went to bat for me and got me my promotion. She is very supportive and tells me all the time how she couldn't do her job without me, etc. Not to mention, I've been able to work on some really cool stuff this year and that will continue in 2012. So, she and her boss are presenting again. Earlier in this week she sends me and this other girl on our team a request for graphics for things we worked on for the presentation today. I sent her something from my two that she requested. The other girl sent a PowerPoint deck that she already had developed a while back. And it happened again today. NONE of the stuff I worked on was mentioned. They only time I was referenced in either his or her presentation was when they were talking about the org chart. I went up to one of my friends in the department after it was over and said "You happen to notice anything missing from their presentation?" and she said "Everything you work on?" My boss is out tomorrow so Monday I'm going to talk to her. I'm not going to be defensive or anything but I'm going to ask her if she never got my email as I was curious as to why two of the big projects I worked on were not included in her or his presentation.

Don't worry, they're saving it for Scarlet Day. :)

Good Morning Lodge

Something weird about the date today. Did anyone else notice?
Plan on making any wishes today?

He just told me (less than 5 min ago) that he got 102 on his Math Quarterly. This is big stuff. He rarely gets above a B even tho he tries.

Batch of cookies made for his pre-meet Spag supper tonight. Nothing like cookie dough for breakfast.
Ooh, what kind of cookies?

Good morning, Lodge! :)

Hey les,

this might be out of your comfort zone, but do you know what will loosen up a throat? I'm coming off a small cold and my throat has decided its minor phlegm day... not usually a problem except there's a karaoke contest tonight and the higher notes are coming off bad.... the rest of the range is like 98% good. I want to win. Is there anything OTC or any ideas?

I'm hoping it'll clear up by tonight.
Whiskey does an excellent job of busting up phlegm, I would guess vodka, rum, gin or brandy would work just as well. Just don't mix it with anything sweet or sour, especially sour, that will make the alcohol not work as well. If you need to mix, cut the liquor with a little water.

interesting but i don't have any hard alcohol on hand... maybe show up early and put down a couple of shots?

Good plan. It also has the added side effects of making you think that you're singing better in the karaoke contest, and making you care much less if you don't win.

edit:
Also, while I was actually serious, that in my experience, liquor has helped bust up phlegm, the bad part is, once you sober up, it usually comes back worse than it originally was.

I ain't going around getting smashed... we'll see how the afternoon plays out. I'm pretty confident I can nail the song on a normal voice... been developing this one for awhile (Downtown Train... Rod Stewart... but I'm going to try to ape a bit more of Bob Seger's version)... I came in 3rd last year... bad song choice and didn't hit the mark. Its more of a pride thing... not going to worry about the prize value.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 139: The Halloween Edition

It comes back worse afterwards because you're dehydrated from consuming the booze.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 139: The Halloween Edition

Morning Lodge.

Any of the people in the Twin Cities looking to do something tonight? I'm teetering between going out and just staying in, watching a couple movies and saving money. Also, tomorrow night, I might be going out with the non-stalker (the stalker seems to have lost interest, she must have found someone else to stalk) lady friend, and depending on what we end up doing, we might want to meet up later on, if anyone is planning on being out and about. Specifically Brent and MNS, let me know if you guys are planning anything.
I'll be at first ave tonight if you're interested.

Good luck. If you actually want to win the thing, then its a good call to not get shmashed. :p

I've worked for an opera company and a professional chorus, and they always said drink plenty of water; lukewarm if possible. And on the preventive front, avoid chocolate and dairy.

Break a leg!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 139: The Halloween Edition

Ok. I don't know about that place. Lots of history, but too many weirdos go there. Plus I don't like the music they have there.
neither do I but Lisa wants to go and I've never been to First Ave so I figure I should go once.

LWB,
Thoughts out to your family.

That'd make a good cheer: THROW some ICE cream ON THAT THANG! THROW some ICE cream ON THAT THANG!

Why are we throwing ice cream on Ryan Thang (Notre Dame player)?

Also, job interview yesterday was not great which is why I enjoyed the rest of my morning off shopping. Found a great outfit to wear to a wedding tomorrow.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 139: The Halloween Edition

I hear it is snowing in MI (reports from coworker in Jackson and friends in Brighton and Ann Arbor). I spent my morning outlet shopping and then driving from Howell to Jackson. It was sunny and beautiful out (cold, but gorgeous). I don't believe the reports of snow.
Snow did happen, but not at any volume. Barely qualified as a dusting.

What an odd coincidence. There is a Penn State student's photo on my Dr. Pepper can (won some scholarship).
