Question for ya, got a chance to get a 1/4 of beef. My choices are from 16 to 20 month critters or he has one 28 month critter. Obviously the 28 month critter is alot more meat and he claims some folks swear a slightly older critter is better but he says more fat, specifically intramuscular fat. What say you? Which should I go for?

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 138: HOCKEY HOCKEY HOCKEY HOCKEY!

Are you going to show us all our past posting sins?
Let he without past posting sins do the first showing, so that surely isn't me.:)

Is it ok for me to call again this afternoon if I still haven't heard from him?
I would try to call him again but leave no more messages. When you reach him in person, explain that it works better for you to call him, because you can't always speak freely at work. If he doesn't get that, then he is likely an idiot and not someone that you want to deal with. In that case, you should blow your trumpet really loud into his ear.

I see that gmann is engaging in drunken posting, probably in the hope of winding up immortalized in someone's signature. You go, dude!

Good afternoon Lodge.

I was tired when I arrived home last night around 8 PM. Four days of long but very constructive meetings coupled with four nights of bars, drinks and late nights led to me being drained and out of gas. I am only 40 years old but I am no longer in shape to be living that lifestyle of bars drinking and very little sleep. It was nice to get home to see the wife and kids and sleep in my own bed last night.

Since 9/8 I have been away from home for 17 days. A few of my good friends are making the trip to Duluth to watch BSU sweep UMD. I was tempted to ask Mrs. g if I could make the trip for the weekend but decided it might not be a good idea. ;)

you're 40???!!?? you look so much older. ;):):p:D:D:D:D

I think 28 months is a little old. Generally a high quality steer will mature and get to be finished at least by the 2 year mark, average would be about 18 months. Usually when we see the older animals, there is a reason they were left to get that old, either they were sick at some point when they were young, or they have a frame that is allowed to get too large. Sometimes in feedlots the smallest animals, or the ones that aren't 100% healthy, get pushed away from the food, so they only get scraps when they're younger. Their bodies grow big, but they don't add the muscle and fat, so it takes that much longer to fill out that now much larger frame. The meat will be just fine in the larger animal, but I'd personally prefer the younger steer.

This morning my head has reminded me that keg beer and I do not get along.

Delivering breathing treatments in a confined space makes me loopy. Not enough ventilation in the ambulance.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 138: HOCKEY HOCKEY HOCKEY HOCKEY!

Didn't even drink last night and i'm still recovering from last night's party... stupid feet.

Its amazing how many North Dakotans you find when you break out the Sioux jersey... yes... I did the lazy thing and went as a "hockey player" complete with blacked out teeth.

May have found the best beer bar in metro Detroit last night. Arcadia Hopmouth on a hand-pull tap is deadly. My stomach and head still agree. :(

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 138: HOCKEY HOCKEY HOCKEY HOCKEY!

I emailed him back, its a heifer that didn't breed so now its a meat critter, thats why he has it another 10 months, Its already hanging so he is going to talk to the butcher to see how he feels about it and get back to me.

I also found one in North Liberty (northern 'burb of IA City). Red's Alehouse. Their motto? "No Crap On Tap." The most "common" beers they had were Oberon and New Belguim Ranger, and they probably had 20+ beers on tap and a crapload of bottles. It was amazing.
