Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 137: Counting the long summer days

Booo. Just got off the phone with a recruiter with CSX. I'm a perfect fit for their engineering and track maintenance staff... But I'd need to relocate to wherever they assigned me. No choice of which of the 23 states they're in I'd go.

I'm kinda bummed out.
I think my old roommate has this kind of job with BNSF, he's all over the country, and has no idea where he'll be more than about 5 days out.

Shirtless Guy?
No, this guy was my roommate sophomore year, and for a sememster my last year at Tech. He was a good friend when I was at school, but I haven't seen him since I graduated. I barely knew Shirtless Guy when I was at Tech. The last 2 years we started going on hockey road trips.

Which states do they cover anyways? I do know that Canadian National Rail has been running some ads for some positions out in South Dakota. But yeah, CSX could have you all over the place.

Just slam it on the counter repeatedly until it started to break.

I think the only thing that would break is my counter. :)

Maybe I'll drop it off my balcony into the pool area! And do it overnight whenever some idiots break the rules and wake me up. It could be a cool weapon. ANd then I could say "Well, I was only trying to break up the sugar so I could use it. Sheesh."

This sounds like a wonderful idea. Let us know how it turns out.

Back from the car dealer. My driver side door lock was acting up. Last night I climbed over the console to get out before I found the trick. I had to hit the unlock button, partially open the door then hit the unlock again before it would open. They said a cable had popped off. Had them change oile and rotate tires while I was there. Need to finish a couple things so I can leave. Wanted to leave early as it's been a long week already.

ETA: wT, did you apply for the other job?

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 137: Counting the long summer days

A long week after the holiday weekend? It has felt that way here.

I applied for the job. I figure it can't hurt. Now to wait and see if they contact me.

Did anyone notice any changes?

The "Settings" button/link has returned from the dead. I hereby dub it "Zombie Settings." And the icon showing up in my browser's tab has changed.

Otherwise, no, nothing that I can see has changed.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 137: Counting the long summer days

Well, I may be getting a tattoo when I'm in Denver for the Quiz/Geist wedding. Mike the Reverend (yes, that's how you refer to him; "Rev" is also acceptable), a friend of mine who performed another friend's wedding, has a son who got into tattooing a couple years ago. And the kid is dam good. So it came up that Junior (real name Mike, referred to by all as Junior; I know I have weird friends) could possibly do the tattoo when I'm there (am there Thu-Mon).

No, it won't be the UP, and it won't be on my foot. It'll be a Celtic cross, with "bródúil as" above it, and "Gaeilge" below it: "Irish Pride"
The cross will also be the colors of the Irish flag. It'll go on the inside of my left fore-arm (closer to the heart ;) ).

Even if I don't get it done in Denver, I know what I'm doing when I can get around to visiting the tatt shop that did my other two tattoos. :)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 137: Counting the long summer days

So that's what young Minnesotans are calling it these days? :P
This made me laugh, esp when connected to the ...considering going to pickle park to ...... comment.

So I am going to chuck my work laptop onto a hard surface far away soon  It had worked at home no prob until a few months ago. Now it says it is disconnected but when I click on it it tells me it is connected do I want to disconnect? I reset the keyword and was on for about 3 minutes when it lost the network (wasn't even touching it or moving) and had to search to find it. It found it, got back on and then lost network again (once again not moving or touching it). Now no matter what I do- hardwire, wireless, redo the keyword, refresh, restart, turn on and off the wireless I can't get the internet (which I need for the portal). The other 2 laptops I have from home both are on no problem. I never have glitches with the wireless.

I hate technology when it is involved in work. this sucks!! I have way over 50 charts I need to get done. The number is climbing exponentially and I have no way I can get it done.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 137: Counting the long summer days

Ok, I've had enough of work and yet I get at least 10 more hours tomorrow! FML.
Sounds like 12 hour weekdays with a 10 hour+ saturday are in my future well into November.

Boss man can shove that overtime up his can!

Truer words have never been spoken. I wanna jab a Buddy Christ up every eyelid while Snooki fist-pumps the head of every person that has said, "Well, it's good money!"

Logged 49 hours this week. Includes holiday pay, but still.

And Patman: half the year I wear sleeveless Ts at work. I'm covered. :p
