Nothing wrong with being on a college campus, nothing at all.

Until someone has to point out that since they start breeding young here in Iowa, in many cases I'm closer in age to the mother than the freshman daughter. That just made me sad.
College campuses are pretty boring when there aren't any students at them. The place was completely dead.

Hey, those of you who have been to Vegas-- Mandalay Bay? Can you tell me about that hotel? I might just find myself staying there for a few nights in early December.

as was noted, it is at the end of the strip. there is a tram that runs north through luxor and stops at the castle. at that intersection you can get out and cross the bridge to either nyny or mgm.

i doubt the pool will be open in december, but that is a great pool/beach. they have an outstanding sportsbook to sit and watch games on weekends during football season. the rooms are nice. you can beg for an upgrade. they have their own boutique bldg "THEhotel". also the upper 30s are also a different place - The Four Seasons. stripsteak is very good.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 137: Counting the long summer days

So.....Mrs.g and the boys were supposed to spend the weekend with the inlaws. I had planned on staying home all by myself. Some peace and quiet, grill some good food and get some stuff done around the house and yard was on my agenda. Things changed......I am at the inlaws. spent some time at the swift county fair. Somebody please put me out of my misery.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 137: Counting the long summer days

Take the boys to the fair. Hell, take the in-laws to the fair.....and leave them there.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 137: Counting the long summer days

It's a great place. The only down side is being all the way at one end of the strip.

That actually will work to my advantage. I'll be running the Rock and Roll 1/2 Marathon, and that starts down on that end of the strip. :)

Congratulations all around! Bartender! Set up the congratulatory rounds for the house!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 137: Counting the long summer days

Mandelay is awesome. Spent much of our time there, including convincing the bartender at the sportsbook to turn on the college hockey title game (which MN won, btw ;) ), and during that time winning $125 on poker slots, and basically turning all the people sitting at the bar into hockey fans (well, the game attracted all the hockey fans to said bar).

No, really, Mandelay is impressive as a casino/hotel. Neo-classic is the term, I believe. Dress nice. ;)

Leave em in either the Beef barn or the Swine barn, but be sure to try to do that towards the end of the fair. There's a chance they could be shipped out with the rest of the livestock to the slaughterhouse. ;)
