Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 137: Counting the long summer days

Ditto. I have my sights set on completing a triathlon next summer. I have always wanted to complete one and at the age of 40 I think now is the time. With more training the bike and running events should be a non issue for me. However, factor in the swimming and suddenly things get complicated. The swimming part scares the shiat out of me. Next week I have scheduled some time with a trainer to critique me and provide some pointers.

Eagle.......good luck with ENT stuff.

:D

Thanks, g. You know better than anyone how amazing and resilient kids can be.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 137: Counting the long summer days

Well, another fun night at TK's. The bartender said "Hoven, right?" to MNS as to bartabs; I said no, that was me. I was insulted. ;) We found out her opinions of some customers, and she apologized that she couldn't make my bar bill lower (I got a decent-sized gift card, so that doubled my bill).

Now, time to get presentable and attend a GPL wedding. It's gonna be a sh*show, but not quite the sh*show of the mel/HN wedding. ;)

Edit:

MNS and bbdl apparently started tabs, had a drink, THEN left and picked me up (leaving their tabs open), and then we headed to the bar. Yeah.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 137: Counting the long summer days

I opened my tab at 5:30, closed it at 2:00, and had dinner. My tab was $37. I owed Hannah a tip from last Saturday because I didn't have cash then and I didn't have a tab, so the girl got a $60 tip on a $37 tab. Gotta take care of the bartender when she takes care of us the way she does.

Good morning Lodge.

Just got back from the gym. Earlier this week I started to do some lap swimming in the pool. I grew up swimming in lakes and such and in grade school and middle school we had swimming classes. My swimming was always average to above average at best. f an a swimming is a work out. I need some help on my technique. Long live the doggy paddle! (and the s&ss) :)
I used to swim a mile a day when I was in college. I miss it.

Good morning.....busy week.
My swimming technique includes a beer and a raft.

Can't get my daughter into UM to see the ENT until October.
:(

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!! saturday is good

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 137: Counting the long summer days

Howdy Lodge. Up this morning, dropped off some dry cleaning, got a mani/pedi, then went to the bank to get some cash for the vacay. Gonna finish and head over to my parents' house later this afternoon. We're all getting picked up at 4am tomorrow for our 6am flight.

I'm watching an infomercial now on this kettle bell workout program. 20 minutes a day, 3 days a week. Hmmmmm. A cardio, core and resistance workout. I'm thinking of ordering.....

The "inlaws" are coming to town for a week. They are staying with us as well. The Dad is a good guy, the mom is ... no smart (as she probably would say). Beer me strength this week :(

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 137: Counting the long summer days

Boy raced 42.7 miles in day 1 of the 2 day boat race. I would say more than 1/3 of the racers didn't finish or turned back early. He ended up 5th, we'll see what happens tomorrow. In other news, I'm apparently now a nailbiter.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 137: Counting the long summer days

The weatherman was wrong. Again.

I almost drowned out there. :D

that's why i listen to the weathergods...

somehow the storms missed arlington... little wet, mostly humid... trains on the other hand... i hate waiting 25 minutes for a train. Whomever had the idea for the car free diet campaign in arlington needs a generous kick to the testicles

So who is the GPL wedding? Is this Dancing Girl?

There is a pretty good size snapping turtle in the yard nest door. Jr is scared to get too close. :D

I believe so, yes. I imagine that will be quite the event.

'Evening, kids. Did my longest run of this training cycle this morning, and had a bad reaction to the energy gel I used. I now feel like I have a hangover without the fun story to go along with it. :(

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 137: Counting the long summer days

I feel like that right about now, too. I think I was out in the sun too long this afternoon.

Fun day at Irish Fair today, Finnegan's Amber for breakfast & my daughter did a great job (twice!) dancing. :)

I think my cousin worked a dunk tank there today. She is a roller derby chick. Her stage name is Barbie Brawl.

Hi again, Lodge. I feel about a million percent better. I have no idea why, but I'm not asking questions at this point.

Took the truck to the shop today. It was squeaking really bad from what my dad and I thought was the front end. My guess was a CV joint. My cousin picked me up and we went to the golf course for the first time this year. While we're on the course, the shop calls and tells me it's from a bad tie rod in the right front tire, and that it would cost $135. Okay, fine. I'm happy with the truck, while the golf game was headed straight to hell on a rocket sled. We went to lunch, I picked up the truck, got less than a mile from said shop and heard a squeak. I thought, no, that can't be. Sure as ****, it was, and it was getting louder as I got home. I took the truck back and we went for a ride. He thought it was coming from the rear end, and they took it back into the garage. Turns out a cable from the e-brake was busted and was causing the whole thing.

Meanwhile, as the day went on, I developed one of those headaches. I got something to eat, and that only made it worse. I tried to sleep. That went well for about 40 minutes. After the Tiger game, which I wasn't really coherent for much of, I laid down for a couple hours. I might have slept 30 minutes or so. For some reason I'm awake now and 100 percent, and no worse for the wear. *shrug*
