Oh, I should also mention that this town has an intersection that is easily worse than the Yooper Loop. It is pure hell. I will try to find a map online.

Evening. Thoughts your way LWB.

East of NOLA now, headed to Mobile now. Looks like we should have the next few days as beautiful weather down here. You silly midwesterners can feel free to send the heat down here since I'm always in the A/C'ed wheelhouse set at a wonderful 70 or so. Just make sure it is gone by the 24th or so when we get to the dock since I'll be outside then unloading the barges.

Also, this job is unbelievably easy. I've sat around with my feet up for the past 4 days, drinking coffee and watching the Capt. steer, since we were in some pretty tricky areas. I'll be driving tomorrow for sure though, but even then it is super easy.

This steakhouse puts fried potatoes on their house salad! And I have a horseradish crusted rivets on the way, mmmmm.

Actually this place isn't even close to redneck/Appalachian like I expected. It is much more tourist trap with very nice restaurants and antique shops everywhere, with the outskirts of town being expensive subdivisions with HUGE houses and high end golf courses and vineyards.

Another note: my waitress has a hot accent.
There is just something about them southern girls and their accents. Just which town is it that you're at in georgia??

Not so good afternoon here at work.

One of my co-workers was killed in a car accident this morning on his way in. He was good friend of mine here at work. I really miss him. He left behind a wife and a son. Thoughts are much appreciated.

:(

One of my uncles has lived in Atlanta for over 40 years and he doesn't have an accent. I have heard from him that it is true for many others there as well. A lot of transplants.

That is very odd. I spent a week in Dallas, amongst native Texans with heavy accents. Our group was from Duluth, had mid- to heavy-MN accents (some were Iron Rangers). By the end of the week, we caught some of the Texans saying "you guys" instead of "y'all" and they caught us in the reverse. Other speaking regionalities were also caught: oh yaaaah, reckon, I figger, yonder, etc.

Maybe that is something with Texans. A guy I knew in college was from Texas, and he was talking like us in a month. :)

Could be. Their accents are not as ingrained as many southerners, IMO. Could be more prone to changing.

I pick up what ever accent I am around. When I was a kid I had a mix of an English accent and southern (the Base school had a lot of deep south theachers)

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!! terrible tuesday.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 137: Counting the long summer days

Morning! Still hot out. Just sayin'

Clearly you have done some quality parenting. :D
Our team isn't one of the 'chosen ones'. Everyone not from there roots against them. Kinda like rooting tagainst the Yankees if you are a Red Sox fan.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 137: Counting the long summer days

Good Morning, Lodge!

Thanks for the thoughts. It is going to be a long and difficult week at work.

Morning Lodge.

I pick up what ever accent I am around.

Me too. I lived in California and lost much of my midwest accent. Moved to Pennsylvania and didn't gain much of any there, moved to Maryland and started talking mild southern. Back to midwest now, although I only use 'ya sure you becha in sarcastic mode.
