Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 137: Counting the long summer days

My week next week is shaping up to have approximately 4 flights, 3 different hotels, 2 different rental cars and trips to 2 completely different redneck hotbeds, with a layover in a complete ****hole.

You layover in Grand Forks????

Fly to Green Bay on Sunday night. Fly from Green Bay to Atlanta via Detroilet Tuesday night. Stay in Atlanta Tuesday night. Drive to a small town in northern Georgia Wednesday morning, the hotel's description of the town said "...in Appalaccia's southern outpost". Fly back to MSP on Friday afternoon.

Well, it isn't confirmed yet. I have a meeting in 30 minutes, where I'll find out if I will have to do the whole trip or just part of it.

Also: Bathroom Update! My nearly year-long saga of renovating my bathroom took some major steps last night. I mounted and wired up the lighted mirror/medicine cabinet, installed the vanity (though the granite vanity top can't be installed until I get the plumbing done), and got one wall of the shower completely tiled. All that is left is: finish tiling shower (about 1/3 done right now), buy and install the ****ter, install the shower fixtures, buy and install the sink fixtures, buy and install the door/frame, buy and install the trim, and lastly, buy and install the glass shower walls/partitions/etc.

So is Gordon Ramsey your teacher?

If that was the case, he'd learn the importance of freshness, simplicity, and profanity.

All are supremely important in the kitchen.

With Gordon Ramsay, you learn the first two? :D

If you've ever seen "Kitchen Nightmares", the answer is clearly yes.

The UK Kitchen Nightmares, yes. The USA Kitchen Nightmares, no.

The F Word, most definitely!
Not my teacher, but the chef I have is close. Hasn't given me a tirade for the ages yet, though I think my lab partner was ready to kill me yesterday after the beurre blanc broke in the pan.

Afternoon, Lodge. Making pizza tonight. Might even throw bacon on it. Aw hell, skip the pizza and eat the bacon.

At least I don't have to do the Green Bay leg of the trip anymore, but I have to go to Atlanta. Trip is booked, and all of the flights from MSP to ATL on Sunday night were booked, or way too expensive, so I'm flying out Sunday morning with the intention of sweating my *** of at the Braves-Nationals game Sunday afternoon. My hotel Sunday night is only a couple blocks from the ballpark. Hey, gotta take advantage of these kind of trips whenever possible!

With what sounds like no working plumbing, you ought to be right at home in redneck heaven! :p

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 137: Counting the long summer days

Hey les, I have a question for you.

My GP is a PA, how does someone usually address a PA. I don't think calling her "doctor" would be quite right.

Thanks!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 137: Counting the long summer days

I'm starting to get some bizarre comments at work... almost like they want to promote me into a supervisory position or principle researcher position... at least my division chief (two positions above me) is making some odd comments. I don't think they will... I'm too young, no publication record, etc. Could I see it by the time I'm 35... wouldn't discount it at all... but now... hmmm. I think for now, I'm reading too much into things.... on the other hand I've done incredibly strong work in a very short time.

edit: of course, now that I've said this... he has promoted a 32 (?) year old into such a position... a researcher on our former research methodology part of the division (there's since been a division split)... but they're a little thin in that research group... who knows what he's up to on this... I'd rather they go out and hire somebody with technical knowledge of sampling methodology for my boss's job when he retires.

Zumba'd tonight. Holy hell. That was fantastic.
A former coworker has lost more than 40 lbs in the past couple months doing it.
I'm just hoping to get the last 15 off.

I have been posting Yawn! messages mwhen I wake up to go bike riding for a while now, although this is the first in small type.
It was rather a tentative yawn this morning.

People usually just call me by my name. You could always ask the staff if she has a preference. And Brent- that was classic.

I don't want to know how a robotic vacuum helps you lose weight.
