I just came from the ice arena. I have the hockey itch again.

Oh, I didn't think Northern was having players' practices yet. :D

Happy 4th of July, Lodge! No plans yet for tonight, but the day already included seeing some more Tech friends (and foisting old fraternity shirts off onto them), and a work picnic with some excellent food.

Happy 4th, Lodge!

Served up Hawaiian-style burgers with pineapple and bacon, served on challah bread with a smear of chipotle mayo. I am full.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 137: Counting the long summer days

The Crash Test Dummy sent me rep that references a N/A thread. How can that happen? I seem to remember a comment of mine that might have elicited the rep, but it was a while ago. Did the rep get sent and then the thread disappeared?

I made Mrs. UR my world-famous Mexican chicken the other night. And you know what that means.....

Every time I end up in/around Mankato, I end up being hammered. How strange.

Funny, that happens for me in Houghton too.

As long as they're a sandwich, I approve. Actually, I'd approve anyway.

I don't remember - do you keep reps from deleted threads and posts? We had this discussion in a long-ago RRL or Got Rep thread. Also, board hasn't gone on a rampage since Tweedledee and Tweedledum in the Tech threads, so unless someone deleted a post (or the server took a dump) there's no way for that to disappear.

2008 PBS Special: Jerry Lee Lewis
2011 PBS Special: Jerry Lee Lewis Impersonator

Nothing like going backwards... suppose I should be glad I'm in my apartment as opposed to the capital lawn.

IIRC, you kept the Rep points but the message disappeared from your USERCP. That may have changed last October with the upgrade.

It changed. Rep message shows up, but the "thread" is labeled "N/A" meaning it was deleted by the board. I think if it was deleted by the user, then you lose everything rep-related.

mmmm.... fireworks... :)

edit: I think I MAY see a second set of fireworks out towards PG County... is it that far? I know the ones on TV are big and up close... probably firing near the Potomac.

Okay. Stupid computer question time.

A couple months ago a virus hit my old desktop (a Dell). It will not boot up to the log in screen. It just goes to a black screen. The CD Rom has not worked for a while. Is it possible to access the desktop's hard drive from my laptop, using a USB cable? Does anyone have any suggestions, short of pulling the hard drive out of the desktop?
