Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 137: Counting the long summer days

Bit of a bombshell dropped at work.

The owner of the prime contractor we use for most of the construction at the VA passed away a couple hours ago. Lung cancer, undiagnosed until too late. We're all shocked. He seemed perfectly healthy and was walking around and speaking with people even a couple days ago. I only marginally knew the guy in my short time here and I'm floored. He meant that much to us.
Condolences Twitch. :(

Good morning, Lodge.

Why did I decide to go bike riding when it stopped raining for a while? Good thing that i was able to find shelter.

Is 5 months long enough to claim I have automotive experience and to gtfo of my current job? Just saw a posting for a job with a 5 mile commute instead of 50, better pay and more authority. (Ability to do things right as opposed to pushing paper and waiting).

I'm bored where I am.

Yes. Because by the time you interview, etc. it will more than 6 months I'm assuming.

Drive-by posting from my new Motorola Photon 4G Android phone. So much to learn but his thing is sick!

It's worth a shot. The worse thing they can tell you is no. You've got a lot to offer that company if you feel your talents are being wasted at your current position. The only one thing I would point out is that with a new job, you're going to have trouble getting time off for any hockey roadtrips, so if there's any of them that are must be ats for you, you might want to be up front right away with them.

So, this week needs to end. Like now. Is there a This Week Sucks club? I'm ready to expand Scarlet's Tuesdays Suck Club.

Other than that, yay life! It is glorious, and better than the alternative. I mean, I could be a quadrapalegic with loss of all senses, and have no friends or family, with a penchant for clowns doing naughty things to me while being laughed at by cats.

I didn't say too much, I was just saying. ;)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 137: Counting the long summer days

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!! thursday. not quite friday.
So Lil had to write a math autobiography. In the first few sentences he says he doesn't do well because the last few years his teachers have not been good. Granted my brother, who has tutored math for years, told Mr and me that (in rather vivid language) as well as telling Lil he isn't stupid in math, but.... At 6:20 AM he was changing that to read in a more PC way. His comment was "well it is true!" It is not up my alley at that time in the AM to have to explain why you don't dis other teachers in your essays.

They have revamped math in the school system after it was such a fiasco but unfortunately this came after Lil had some real gems including the one who was out for months and replaced by the eastern European with the strong accent. (Schools answer- go to your last yrs teacher extra help- once a week- and have her explain it ) My brother tutored him most of that year.

Whatever happened to honesty (no matter how brutal) is the best policy? :D
