Oh suck it up ya ninny!!! You're fine. It ain't like the Twin Cities are like Baghdad or Tripoli.

No, but... SHOTS FIRED! THe most urban area I grew up in was the "nice part" of Coon Rapids. Again, I don't like hearing hand guns go off down the street. :D

Thats why we go to TK's now. You don't hear any gunshots at the Shops at West End. :p

mookie: Yeah, I'd bet she's a spinner, but if she's not going to return calls why would I worry about trying to call her again? There are plenty of girls out there just like her.

monster: being the meat in a hottie sandwich is fun, you should try it sometime ;)

Bbdl's work phone must MNS. I thought most voicemail systems automatically logged the number of incoming calls.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 137: Counting the long summer days

Really? If it does I don't know how to find the number.
Unless you live in the stone age at your company, a number should be tied to her message, and there should be a relatively easy way to retrieve it. Every VM system I've used (whether on my cell phone or on my old land line years ago) has given me the number via computer voice of the associated message, plus it's given me the option to call the number (in addition to the other standard options of saving or erasing the message). As almington said, your company's IT department should be able to tell you how to get it.

I did pay a toll to cross the LI Sound, and I think that there was a $.25 toll on the Berkshire Spur of the Thruway. I then took US 9 and then US 9 and US 20 to US 4. I usually took the Bronx River Parkway to where the Taconic started but tried numerous other ways. (One could avoid the toll across the Sound by using the Queensborough bridge to Manhattan and then various ways to the Bronx, but I wasn't that cheap, especially considering the added traffic.)

coming north from school I took either 95N to the hutch parkway to 287 to sprain brook/taconic, or stayed on the hutch to 684 to 84 to taconic, depending on traffic and how I felt. Pretty much same time/distance really.

I think the thruway toll is up to. 65 now or so, but still next to nothing for what I'm used to paying around the city. From 90W off taconic I stayed on 90 and went to 787 and on up via 7.

It doesn't say the number in a computer voice, it just says something like "welcome to blah blah voicemail, you have 1 new message on (insert date and time), to listen to the message press 2, to change your password press...., to change your outgoing message press...etc" Press 2 and the message plays. I don't think I'm going to IT to get some number from a bar girl, after previous dealings with IT, it just isn't worth it.

Did the bullets hit near you?? Didn't sound like it. Just hit the deck like the House of Pain told ya too when somebody is busting off caps. And not sweat it so much because you wasn't the one that was getting wrecked.

Y'all are now going to have that song in your heads today....

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 137: Counting the long summer days

Gunshots to me sound a lot like firecrackers, so I doubt I'd even flinch.

Plus there was a shooting next door to me a few years ago, so ... eh.

Your neighbors must be packing .22's. It would be tough to mistake a .12 gauge with a firecracker.

The Sprain Brook didn't exist when I was at RPI. I have used it more recently. Doesn't it start at the Bronx River?

I787 is also new and much better than 9 and 20.

so 20 seconds is not worth it? Maybe she forgot... Or was hungover drunk covered in glitter when she heard your message ;). Don't take it personally... Just like she shouldn't if you decide once was good afterwards :D

Here we get it displayed on the phone, usually with the name, as well as in my e-mail inbox usually labelled "Outside Caller", provided they leave a message.

I'd ask for a better phone :p

edit: have you thought about getting personal (social) business cards? Maybe you don't want to mix the two up... right now I keep cards if my phone sleeve and my wallet... if I were to do two sets of cards I'd put each type in different places.

Speaking of gunshots... apparently they were firing anti-tank cannons at Arlington National Cemetary. You'd think since I live right across the way from the cemetary (can't see into it... can't get there from here) I'd hear it... but quite a few people nearby did.

After seeing her very revealing modeling pics on facebook I was a little turned off. The girl has to have anorexia, and its not attractive. So that also kinda cooled me on the idea of calling again. We'll see what happens next time I see her at the bar.

Patman, my phone doesn't have a display or anything to even show a number or name, and it is in no way connected to my email. I think I could set it up like that and get a phone that does that, but I don't really want one. If anyone from work calls me I don't need to see the number, because its easy to find it in the online directory. And I'm not going to buy social business cards to hand out at the bar. A much better solution is to not carry my business cards with me and just not hand them out. Even though having them with led to some entertainment last weekend.
