Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 136: Again?

cc to bbdl: Talking with GLM now, sounds like Fri is up in the air, but Sat is a "start early" night. As in, dinner somewhere DT Mpls. Then many drinks. Will keep you updated. And other locals, of course, who want to join.

will you be in the neighborhood of flying bullets and rearview mirrors?!?!?!? :D

There's a chance, I suppose. :D

The city wanted the club where the shooting incident happened to close for the next 90 days, but the club said f that, and really upped the security presence. More police patrols are happening in that area, too. It's probably the safest it's ever been now. But there's also rumors of Das Boot sometime that weekend.

outside of the boot i couldn't name a single bar... i remember them by what happened. that one:
1) brent sieved a car
2) bb_dl
-a) stood back to back with some tall hot broad because brent bet that she was taller
-b) ran into a waitress he knew that is/was a gophs cheerleader. she probably came up to his belly button when they both stood up straight.
3) something that would never happen in MA.... everyone got a free zippo!!! (giveaways for smokers ;P)
4) drinks specials were cups that probably held 2 litres of booze. most popular was the long island ice tea.

Oh Downtowner Lounge in houghton between that on thursday nights, $1.75 beam and coke or capt and coke on wednesday and double bubble on friday i miss that bar

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 136: Again?

There's a volunteer fireman's association convention going on here in town.
It's been one never ending siren ALL. NIGHT. LONG.

On the bright side, if something does catch on fire, it should be put out rather quickly. Provided they're not all drunk.
Oh, who am I kidding... it'd burn to the ground.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 136: Again?

I really want to play Chambers Bay...wanna road trip it, Mookie? :p

seattle'ish, right? last year's us am?

maybe...

It's in Tacoma, just south of Seattle. I played it a couple years ago and didn't care for it. Way pricey - I think it was $165 and they won't let you use a cart unless you can prove a disability. It was carved out of a gravel quarry. There is one (literally) tree and no water. A links course in western Washington is bizzaro. There are many much nicer courses in Washington.

1. Yes, it was outside of Bootlegger's, which is next to/near Karma (where the shooting happened). Which also was the place that we heard tasers and saw cop cars come flying in a few months before, due to a chick fight.
2. I know how to hook people up. Too bad bbdl failed on that one. And we tend to have waitresses recognize us (go figure, given our drinking habits when we go out).
3. I hadn't seen that in a while, but it was quite commonplace maybe 6-7 years ago.
4. IIRC, it was a liter (pitcher) of rail drinks for $10. Like Houghton, they don't give you a glass, unless you ask for one/more.

Happy Birthday to dggoddard! who is brilliant. Didn't start a thread cos I don't really know him (I don't think). Did you know about him RFAlph?

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 136: Again?

Maybe because it's June and a Saturday, but it's 9am and the parade route is already packed. I was at the Red Sox one in 07 and all three Patrioits ones and I didn't think it was this crowded two hours before it even started.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 136: Again?

Good Morning, Lodge.

Waiting to get the oil changed on my car. I am debating if I want to go to Greek Fest or Polish Fest this afternoon.

I'd say that it doesn't have the benefit of having the colleges open... maybe people love the Bruins more? :)

The bruins base has always been more hardcore and blue-collar... how that compares to the Red Sox, I'm not sure
