Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 135: Rain, rain go away

fffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
is this a stutter or a different language?? :p

There was one kid a while back who got his word, asked for the definition, sentence, origin, etc., then out of absolutely nowhere said "Do the chickens have large talons?"

Then there was the "euonym" girl, which I actually witnessed first hand. I can explain the actual situation around that, but I'd really prefer not to tell it semi-publicly out of respect for the poor girl.
Extra thread.

If anyone has some good vibes, my sister-in-law (brother's wife) had a tumor removed from her head this morning. They wouldn't know for a week or so if it is benign or malignant.
Saying a prayer.
The Rat graduates from HS tonight.
Wahoo. Here's to a safe return at the end of the night.

Lil is volunteering to be a torch bearer at the grad for his HS tom'w night. He is all excited. Fire is always exciting.

I hate SQL. :(

This thing sucks... updating one variable and it wasn't done in an hour and a half... its only 17 million records... I've stored into objects this size before in R around about a minute.
An hour and a half? Sounds like you are running your SQL locally instead of on the server.

i'm running commands within R... but that being said, it shouldn't take that long... I think some of this might be our file system... but I can't admit I know much. The thing is, it didn't take this long to store the db in the first place. I would say almost certainly its not being run on a server.

I'm up the wall with this... I'm sucking up some 90GB of RAM and i'm tacking on another bunch to go way over the limit... that's why I can't run it as a singular object... need to run through SQL so I don't use up all 128GB RAM.

We have somebody who knows things about SQL but its slow in going.

Come on, PB. You can read, right? HN will be Mr. Melmac, not the other way around. ;)
/desperately trying to set a board standard so I don't become known as Mrs. Dorkisak...

He's a Fooper. What did you expect? You're familiar (even in the Biblical sense!) with their kind. And you are one, to boot!
