Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 134: Huh?

And bbdl, just checked all the cushions of the couches, under the furniture, etc. Nothin'. :(
Alright, thanks for looking. I will have them send me a new one, its not really a big deal, I'll just lose about 5 days of steps. Stupid health insurance making me wear this thing. I'm guessing it fell off at the bar when I was busy trying to tend to the drunk girl, making sure she didn't attack anyone or fall on her face.

She's an aggressive drunk? I thought that was only frat boys and bikers who wanted to start fights.

Not attack in a violent way. She just wanted to go talk to everyone, and since she could hardly stand, that meant hanging on them. Pretty much exactly like I get when I am absolutely blasmed.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 134: Huh?

Amazing. No rain in the forecast for the entire week here. In honor of mother nature bestowing this gift upon us, I shall attend happy hour all this week! :D

Ya, **** you guys. Rain until Friday or Saturday over here in northern NY. I just want to golf, preferably before I leave for Texa$ at the end of the month.

I think I've all but made my decision on the car, but I'll wait until I sign a paper to announce it. Gonna still test drive them both next to each other later this week (not at the same time though!), just to make sure.

At least our weather isn't a crapshoot (yet).

Hey now, we've had the crappiest spring of my lifetime thus far this year, we deserve it!:p

If you are in Vegas, I would ask why you even bothered going to sleep in the first place?

Haha! MGM in Detroit. TK's mom had a room comped to her and let us have it for the night while we went to the downtown hoedown. Was pretty wet and rainy, so we didn't stay long. Decided to make use of the room instead.

While I haven't been up here at home all spring, from what I've heard from my parents, it's been pretty bad up here too. And of course after this week the courses will probably be beyond saturated, so who knows if I'll get to golf this weekend. 2 weeks left at home if I drive south, a little more if I fly!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 134: Huh?

Good Morning, Lodge!

Today is Mr. wore Black and mine wedding anniversary. 2 years and we have not killed each other. :D
Congrats!

Just found out this is the last race of the season. He thought he was running the conference meet but just texted he wasn't. :( I am glad if it means his friend (a Sr) gets a go. He has worked hard all season.
Bummer. But now he can go all out!

Morning, Lodge.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 134: Huh?

I finished my first complete packaging of my homemade wine. I dipped the bottles in red wax, ala Makers Mark, and let it drip down the sides, then used twine to tie on a handwritten label to the neck of the bottle. I used Wild Turkey, coffee grounds and a propane torch to make the label look aged, giving it some character. Overall it turned out excellent. I only have 4 bottles, so I have to use it wisely, while I wait for more batches. I have a batch of blackberry started, that won't be ready for about a year and a half.

...Boo, but then again all the more reason to give his all to get the 4:58 or the sub 11 today. Last go of the year, can't hold anything back.

I got another text "gunning for states (qualifying is 4:48). Might be a bit of a stretch as this will be race 3 in the last 6 days but hey- you never know.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 134: Huh?

I burnt the tip of my thumb with a propane torch yesterday. Now it has turned a pale, dead, white color, and lost all feeling. Which I must admit, it much better than the seering pain that I felt yesterday.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 134: Huh?

wally- there are a lotta rainy dreams this spring. :(.

I've been so busy with work the garden is second fiddle. I'm hoping what I planted Saturday survives this week of crap, Rain everyday with possible sun by Saturday or Sunday. My Tomatos and peppers are better off inside, thats for sure

We gave up on the idea of planting anything from seed. We are too late for that and will try to get the garden rototilled this week and go get the largest started plants we can find for a few key plants, maybe this weekend. We want some tomatoes, peppers, cukes, zucchini, eggplant and some herbs. (no, not Swanted's herbs)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 134: Huh?

From a buddy of mine. I hope even you non-math wimps get a chuckle from this all-too-true state of affairs.

A Short History of Mathematics Education in these United States

Last week I purchased a burger at Burger King for $1.58. The counter girl took my $2. Meanwhile I dug through my change, pulling 8 cents from my pocket, and gave it to her. She stood there, holding the nickel and 3 pennies, while looking at the screen on her register. I sensed her discomfort and tried to tell her to just give me two quarters, but she hailed the manager for help. While he tried to explain the transaction to her, she stood there and cried.

Why do I tell you this? Because of the evolution in teaching math since the 1950s:

1. Teaching Math In 1950s
A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is 4/5 of the price.
What is his profit ?

2. Teaching Math In 1960s
A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is 4/5 of the price, or $80.
What is his profit?

3. Teaching Math In 1970s
A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is $80.
Did he make a profit?

4. Teaching Math In 1980s
A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is $80 and his profit is $20.
Your assignment: Underline the number 20.

5. Teaching Math In 1990s
A logger cuts down a beautiful forest because he is selfish and inconsiderate and cares nothing for the habitat of animals or the preservation of our woodlands. He does this so he can make a profit of $20. What do you think of this way of making a living?
Topic for class participation after answering the question: How did the birds and squirrels feel as the logger cut down their homes? (There are no wrong answers, and if you feel like crying, it's ok. )

6. Teaching Math In 2000s
Un hachero vende una carretada de maderapara $100. El costo de la producciones es $80.. Cuanto dinero ha hecho?
