Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #13^2: Independence!

Got an email a few minutes ago from the head of our department, the one that reports to the President and CEO, that said "Can you come to my office?" I was like "Uh oh." And he was so serious when I got there but what he wanted to ask me was that due to our sponsorship of something we got a few tickets to the Beyonce concert tonight and he had one left and would I like to go. Um, yeah!! Need to go home and change, program the dvr and head back to Boston!

The inside of Munn doesn't look much better.
How many state capitols have you visited? I think I've toured 7. I should find out how many my parents have toured, they added Salem earlier this month.

I am at 35 or so. It's fun & a great excuse for a road trip. :)
60, cloudy, & windy here on the west arm of Traverse Bay. :(

Anybody else here as baby out as I am right now?? Last week our office manager's son was born. Then Sunday a co-worker's wife had their third girl. Pretty sure the office staff there already is planning on little Henry to take Faustina to the Prom, and so on and so on there. Then there's all that nonsense with what's going on across the Pond. Its enough to make one sick I tell ya.

Good stuff!

On the flip side.........yesterday I had a meeting with an employee that had been with the company for 22 years and I had to inform them that their position had been eliminated. Awesome severance but it sucked nonetheless. :(

Ouch. Found out the co-worker with pneumonia also has blood clots in his lungs. He's about my age. He's gonna be out for a while, obviously. I just don't know how common that is, or how easy it is to recover from. les...?

I would think he's going to be out of action for a while with all of that.

One of my coworkers has had a similar problem with clotting and other random 'common' illnesses and conditions (pneumonia, low testosterone) that pop up every few months and force him to stay home and telecommute for up to two weeks. It all started two years ago when he ignored DVT symptoms and landed in the hospital with a collapsed lung, nearly dead. They've been trying to pinpoint his problem, and think it's autoimmune, but can't specify what despite all the tests they've run.

This guy seems to be like me, over the years (worked with him for about 11 years now). Doesn't call in sick. Former Navy (IIRC. He was in the Armed Forces for sure, I know that). Looks fit. Doesn't drink, does smoke (not a pack-a-day guy, though). It's just odd. Seems like a freak occurrence.

Good Morning Lodge.

It was a blood clot in the lung that killed Dennis Farina the other day... Someone should tell him that smoking isn't good for him. I'm sure that is news to him....

I don't know how it is with the pneumonia, but I survived a DVT and extensive PE - both lungs. Because of that, I get to give myself twice daily shots of a blood thinner until the parasite pops out.

Mornin', Lodge...
Woke up this morning to a text from the mister saying he hit a giant rat on the way to work; he's working a weird schedule the next couple of weeks - went in at 1 am. He says he's okay, but that there's hood and front end damage. Guess we'll see how bad when he gets home. We need to replace his car anyway, but this is not the way I wanted to do it.

Soooo, there's going to be a USA Hockey exhibition right before Christmas in Grand Forks at The Ralph. I'll be there! For work. I'm assuming with a few Sioux alums on the team that will be a big draw.

So is it a game against Canada then?
