Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 129: Still got those Winter Blues...

Morning.

I'm on RA duty tonight and had a kid throwing up a bit of blood and whatnot. He's off to the hospital, and I'm going back to bed for a couple hours.

Guten Morgen, Lodgenheimers!

We're covering Shiloh to Antietam in class today. Here's good trivia for you:
Casualties at Antietam (KIA+WIA+MIA) > American Casualties in Revolutionary War + War of 1812 + Mexican War + Spanish-American War combined
Casualties at Antietam = Casualties on D-Day x4

How many were there? I am seeing about 25,000 total for both sides. But that includes less than 4,000 dead.

Strange that that doesn't seem like a lot now.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 129: Still got those Winter Blues...

North: approx. 14,000 casualties
South: approx. 12,000

17 Sep 1862 was the bloodiest single day in American history. Check out James McPherson's Crossroads of Freedom: Antietam if interested. It's a quick read (155 pages) and is very good! Prior to Antietam, had the North won the war, we would have had a restoration of the Union as it was in 1860 (i.e. with slavery still intact in the South). Antietam changed all that.

Of the Civil War battlefields of been to this one probably had the biggest affect on me. It was almost creepy being there....

Hey SB, I'm a sucker for fresh ginger. Absolutely love it. Your chow sounds good to me.
Thanks; I thought the ginger/nutmeg blend would work well with the carrots.

Morning, Lodge. Went for a 40 minute run in the cold today, and I feel great.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 129: Still got those Winter Blues...

eh, honestly their relationship ended years ago, its now they're roommates who hate each other. Both would be better off if they made it offical, but both are too chicken to do that. Mom mostly because Dan has his name on the title of the farm, and Dad, well, think he's more afraid of ending up alone I think. One of those reasons I really need to move out.
:( Been there...it's not good for anyone. Mine reconciled, but for years it was just a bad situation.
Well, that Canadiens-Bruins game was interesting...
I only saw the 3rd (had CPR class last night), but got to see all the highlights and ...wow! Fun, interesting, ...

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 129: Still got those Winter Blues...

Good morning. A shortish workday will cap a short workweek for me and my wife. This afternoon we head to the slopes to ski for several days with my brother and his family who have arrived in Vail for their annual ski trip to Colorado. There's been lots of snow in the past few days and the forecast for the coming weekend is full of sunshine and comfortable, ski-season temperatures. Really looking forward to some good bump runs and a few cruisers.

Good luck to the Pioneers against Minnesota this weekend. See you next week LODGEONIANS!;)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 129: Still got those Winter Blues...

'diva - so sorry to hear about the loss of your pet. :( :( You were the third person over the course of a day and a half that posted about that. While I've never had a pet, I know how much of a loss this can be.

Busy day here so I probably won't be around much.

Yeah, it seems like they've been like this ever since I started college. Don't think they'll ever just get over it. Heck, the last time I believe the two of them have even been in a vehicle together was back when I graduated from GVSU in 05.

Good Morning, Lodge!

People here at work need to learn to do their own job. I am sick of cleaning up after everybody's disasters!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 129: Still got those Winter Blues...

Morning Lodge.

I think we made progress yesterday, but I'm still not sure. Still more work to do, unfortunately I've been sitting in the hotel lobby called into meetings for the entire morning. If I go over my cell minutes because of this, I'm demanding a work cell phone.

The Seawolves just walked through the lobby of my hotel.

edit: they just walked back the other way now. Breakfast must be over.

and!
I might be able to make the Final 5 again! Just got an email that the guy putting on the training session that I would have to go to instead of F5 wants to push it back 2 weeks! I responded that I would be very happy about that change!

At least your disasters at work aren't of the poop variety. Pretty sure the littlest had Rotavirus (wikipedia is your friend) earlier this week and two of the others (possibly all 3) have a similar gastrointestinal bug. I have been doing a lot of laundry this past week. :(

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 129: Still got those Winter Blues...

Good morning Lodge.

The temp might get up to 35 on Saturday! Given that earlier in the week we had wind chills of -42 it will be t shirt weather in 320land! Quite a swing in temperatures.........
