I need to make a fresh loaf of bread tomorrow, too. And I saw the "Obsessed" episode of No Reservations... now I really want to visit the Sullivan St. Bakery and Co.

Bob - Tomorrow is tcbg's birthday and he has requested this cake. We're also celebrating his nephew (Mini-legal)'s birthday and he has requested something along these lines (sans strawberries and using semi-sweet chocolate instead of white "chocolate"). I'm in the frosting stages as I have all the cake rounds baked.

I also need to make bread tomorrow, I was debating whether I should start a loaf tonight and bake it off tomorrow.

Very nice cakes. I think once my schedule settles down, I'm going to try making a Lady Baltimore cake again, since my first attempt was an abject failure.

As for bread, might as well start it tonight and it will be ready for you to finish in the morning.

Hockey is solid tonight. Really like the looks of the freshmen that played (and almost all of them did, a lot... sat most of the returnees since it was an exhibition). Beat Carleton 5-1, played pretty sound hockey and looked physical. Anybody here a Minnesota St. fan? SLU travels out there next week, followed by a trip to Ferris St the following week. Logging the miles early in the season this year.

A win, but we looked like the same old team in the third. We even fell victim to the stupid new rule about scoring on a delayed penalty.

That's okay. My team lost to Ontario IT. :/

Whew. I got pulled over for a busted headlight just a few minutes ago, on my way home from downtown St. Paul. I had a few tonight, but was very much well enough to drive. Still, I hate getting pulled over. She asked about having anything to drink, and I told her my number. The reply I get, "Sir, you know that everyone tells us they've only had two to drink, right?" I said yes, but that it's a shame while I'm telling the truth, the others may or may not. I was not telling the truth, but if not for the headlight, which went out within the last day or two, she would never have had reason to pull me over. Ugh.

If they close a bike path due to construction, they really shouldn't detour it in front of the Lincoln Memorial into the middle of a demonstration.

Went to a chili competition today in Manchester (done by the International Chili Society). Pretty awesome...about 100+ competitors.

Not just any chili cookoff, but the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS! Manchester somehow snaked it away from Las Vegas. My guess is the bid was submitted under the city's nickname, "ManchVegas", and someone at the ICS got confused.

Ok, it's not like it's a HUGE event ($5 to get in, which also got you 5 free samples), but pretty cool to see it in Manch.

I was stopped at a sobriety checkpoint once and answered the same (in reality it was 5-6, over about 6 hours). I had to take a field sobriety test. I don't think I've ever been so nervous. But I passed!

BTV? You're only about 2 hours E of me right now since I'm at home. *wave* Nice city, but its still Vermont.

It's a glorious fall morning here in Denver. My beloved Air Force Academy Falcons beat Navy yesterday and are on the road to recapturing the C-I-C Trophy. There's a pot of hazlenut coffee which just finished brewing and several cinnamon crunch bagels waiting to be toasted. The Sunday paper is waiting to be read and all's well this morning. Enjoy the rest of your day folks.
