Good Morning, Lodge!
Good Morning, Lodge!
I would seriously consider it, especially to destinations like Orlando, where you get A LOT of young kids on the flights.would you pay more for a child-free flight, out of curiosity, Scarlet?
this.Yes. But I want to know why parents with kids aren't charged more as well. Especially when they ruin the flights for others.
I wear my favorite sweatshirt (white BU hockey one with HOCKEY on the sleeve), put the hood up, and usually fall asleep before take off -- occasionally medically aided depending on the length of the flight and what the plans are afterward).flights, kinda by default, are already ruined. you are stuck between people and can't move. uncomfortable. little to no selection on food. rude waitresses who have a **** job. recycled air from sick fellow flyers. the only way it works is if you get ripped drunk and pass out. but you usually have to drive to the airport, then the security hassle, then get there early and sit around so you don't get bumped... which takes away time you could be pounding away to insure deep, drunk sleep.
I definitely agree. I never thought of this, but that would be something I'd love to see instituted. There should be a refundable behavior deposit to those flying with children. $50 per kid per flight - if the kid behaves, the parents get their money back.
I wish. It's brought back the gnats and is unpleasant to play outside in (plus it may wreak havoc on the cakes this weekend if it sticks around).Good morning! Will the sticky, humid weather ever go away?!?
*thumbs up*Makes me think of Phil Collins.
I ended up getting a tv, went to several places to check prices and brands after doing research online yesterday and ended up where. I started looking, best buy. At a couple different stores the sales people were recommending LG because apparently they are one of only 2 companies that actually makes their own screens, and the other is Sharp. The reviews online were good for it, so that is what i went with. Its a 46" LCD, 1080p, 120hz, internet tv (which i think just means that i can stream stuff without having a computer hooked up), originally priced for $1399, reduced to $899, aparently they just reduced the price today, according to the people at the store. I think it was a pretty good deal, watched a movie last night and it was pretty sweet.
Sharp makes excellent LCD TVs. Good deal.
Also, don't pay any attention to the "they make their own screen" thing. There is so much more to a TV than the actual display panel itself that this is a total non-starter. There are only a few screen manufacturers in the world, yet there are huge variations in overall quality.
Are ear plugs good enough to block it out?
Ugh, I hate making bad decisions that lead to bad habits when I'm drunk.
Last Thursday, I'm drunk riding back with my friends from the Yankees disaster, and my buddy whips out his can of Camel snus, and in my drunken state I get one. Now I'm going through my own tin. The good news is that nobody knows I'm doing it unless I say something as you don't need to spit (which is my main complaint about dippers), but its still not something I want to get in a habit of doing. The minor buzz is nice, but the risk of cancer isn't. It'll probably just be a phase.
The only problem I have with that car is that "Genesis" makes me think of Sega, not Hyundai.
Grrrr.... tweaked my back Monday, went into the chiropractor Tuesday and he was having a hell of a time getting me put back into place as I was just so stiff. Been mostly laying down and icing my back today, trying to get the swelling out of in there.
Not that any chiropractor could fix me, but sometimes I do wanna go to one and see them go "WTeFF?!" Specialists have done so, for the record.![]()
The most important thing to me when looking at TVs were, how bright is the screen and how dark is the black color.
The color is also important when buying a blu-ray player. PS3 is still near the top in blu-ray player quality.

this.

Oh no, not the cakes!!I wish. It's brought back the gnats and is unpleasant to play outside in (plus it may wreak havoc on the cakes this weekend if it sticks around).

This. When I was actually able to travel, I did't mind crying babies too much. The kids running up and down the aisles out of control, on the other hand, were NOT ok.I don't really care if there is kids on flights. I always have headphones to use and 95% of the time that cancels out the little brats.
If it was a red eye like Scarlets then I might be upset.
While that's a huge factor, it really bugs me that the industry measures that (in the form of "contrast ratio") so dishonestly that it's impossible to tell which TVs are better at that by looking at specs.
In reality, a contrast ratio much over 1000:1 isn't possible. Seeing those absurd 35000:1 ratios is bunk.
http://revision3.com/hdnation/contrast
Skip to about 15:25 or so for a good explanation on the difference between advertised specs and real specs.
But did he turn due to the fact he works for the company, or are there legitimate reasons for it (or did he simply BS you into believing the 'legitimate' reasons)?![]()
Good morning Lodge.
It has not been a good year for friends of the g family. Serious health issues have stricken three of our friends with one illness resulting in a death. Now a brother to one of our friends was murdered Sunday. Granted, I don't now this person but I still feel for our friend who is grieving the loss of her brother.
The murder made headlines earlier in the week nationally as this person was shot and killed in front of his 8 year old daughter in Florida. Sorry I don't have the link but I am sure there is one out there.

This reminds me of one of my travel maxims, never travel without a hooded sweatshirt (or some other type of outerwear if the sweatshirt is not appropriate) -- even when it is too hot to wear one. I learned this while traveling for racing. Not only is useful for the reason 'Ewe states, it can be used as a pillow, blanket or just to keep you warm in an air conditioned plane. Plus it's protects you from the negative consequences of not following Murphy's law. (really, a fried and I traveled one snowy winter's day on separate flights. I had a sweatshirt, he checked his jacket. I got to the condo without a problem, he spent a cold night on the floor in the Denver airport.)
Just landed in Houston. No crying babies or other brats on this flight, actually there were only about 15 people on the plane. Its nice to get a whole row of seats to yourself.
They left 3 seats open in first class. I guess i'd rather sit coach by myself in my own row then with others in first class. When i'm the only one in the row i just sit at an able and stretch my legs out.no matter what time of year I'm traveling, I will always have a windbreaker with me. As you said, works as a pillow, blanket, and most restaurants/airports are colder then normal. Plus I have had my trip changed on me, so I think I'm going to West Palm and instead get sent to Portland, ME. Also, I've had freak snowstorms happen in MEMPHIS!
I need to take that flight. Hell, with my senority, I'd probably get first class.![]()
