He could just serve it to women. ;)
Well, that is the plan. :p
Ladies love the strawberry wine, as long as it doesn't taste like chit. I might have to work on that.
He seems like he has commitment issues. Not sure how he will make it a year for this wine.

Although I guess you can't just store girlfriends in the basement (legally) like you can wine. :D
Yeah, I won't have to deal with the wine everyday, I can forget about it for weeks or months at a time. :p

I've been looking at other recipes, and I think I'll make several different small batches, about a month apart from each other. I want to try a bunch of different ones, and don't want to get stuck with 30 bottles of crappy wine if I do a big batch and it turns out bad. The ones I've looked at are strawberry, blackberry, cherry, red grape and peach. I'd probably end up with about 3 bottles of each if I do the small batch recipes.

I went and got a flu shot this afternoon. Our health insurance provider covers the cost of the shot [$25]. My wife and I are firm believers in the "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" school of medicine.

Waiting for Mrs. Shot to come home for Happy Hour and then we're going to a neighborhood restaurant for dinner. Have a nice evening LODGEONIANS. :)

Man up. A flu shot will just give you a 6 month cold.

And bbdl: you man up, too. Unless you're married, you don't drink wine. Period. Now, if you made some moonshine...

I dunno. You can get pretty loaded on wine. I'm not a wine guy by any measure but shenanigans went down every time I have gotten loaded on it.

Wine tastes like crap. I've had quite a few different kinds, and all of 'em: blech.

Closest I'll get to wine is the Lambics like Lindeman's.

I'm not making it to drink it, even though I probably will drink some of it. I want to do it because I think it will interesting and it would be a good hobby. Plus I think if I actually make some decent stuff it would make a very good gift to give people in certain situations.

I wouldn't want to just make moonshine, its just alcohol, no experimenting with taste. I'd try bourbon, but that is out of the scope of what I'd be able to do in my garage, and I'd have to way several years to be able to try it. :p

edit: I'm not a wine person either, I've had very few that I've liked, so yeah, not really planning on making it for my own consumption

Then brew beer! You drink beer on occasion, so I'm sure you can brew something you like. :p

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 121: How will you spend your days until the season starts?

I've only had a handful of wines I've actually like as well.

A buddy and I are thinking about doing some home beer brewing and some distilling since we're both engineers (I'm a chemical engineer so I know a thing or two about distillation :) ). Plus he has a bomb shelter in his basement, seriously, so we don't have to worry about anything going catastrophically wrong with the distilling.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 121: How will you spend your days until the season starts?

This. I am NOT a wine person at all.

I'm not even sure what its supposed to taste like or why I'm supposed to like it. I just figure I'm not getting it or something. Nothing tastes classy about it really.

I thought about that too, may try it. I'm going to start with wine though. Like I said, it would just be a hobby, I don't care if I drink it or not. :p
Also, I think wine works better for a gift. I'm not thinking of giving it to a buddy for his birthday, because then beer would be better. I'm thinking of wedding gifts, gifts for family members (most of whom don't drink beer). I'd probably even provide some bottles to friends looking to impress a lady friend.

Besides, BPH has been brewing beer, I want to do something different!

80-90 mil being donated to PSU's development of D-1 hockey? I think they should set aside 1M for a Lodge branch in PA so we can go visit.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 121: How will you spend your days until the season starts?

There's a time and place for wine. I was never a fan at all until somewhat recently, and still my tastes are pretty narrow. Riesling is an excellent variety, one often overlooked. Goes great with fish/seafood.

However, I'm still a whisk(e)y man.
