Intriguing. I'd be willing to try this, and some of the others, but even I think that chicken-fried bacon is a little much. :o

Morning, Lodge. Hooray for the idiots returning in force in D-1.
I've had chicken fried bacon elsewhere. Believe me, it is an excellent idea.

I am definitely going to try the pig's ears. They are at Famous Daves, which makes it the third year in a row that Famous Daves puts out something quite good. Pig Lickers, Pig Cheeks, and now Pig Ears.

Not generally a big "chicken-fried" kinda person, but I'd consider trying that if I was hungry enough. :)

And for Minnesotans, Famous Dave's does some decent barbecue. Not world-class or anything, but definitely not the McDonalds of barbecue either.

I've gone to a Hog roast where I got to try some of the pig jowles there, pretty tasty part of the pig.

Hmmmm..... Clinton takes on Manchester at 5pm over at EMU.

The first Famous Dave's was in Wisconsin....:o

For a chain, they do some pretty good BBQ. But usually, if you want the good stuff, you gotta go to some hole in the wall place where they know more about their meat and fixin's than marketing. ;)

Start of the State Fair today!!!

Best time of the year. I just hope I'm able to go for a full day, and not just after work one day...

Some new food for this year:
Deep fried cheeseburger sliders
Korean Moon BBQ tacos
Spicy Szechaun shrimp on-a-stick
Thinly sliced pig's ears dusted in seasoned flour and fried until crispy. Served with a lime chipotle glaze.
Chicken Fried Bacon (thick-cut bacon battered and breaded, fried and served in a boat covered with gravy)
Deep-fried shortcake (shortcake batter deep-fried and covered with strawberries and ice cream)
Chicken Chipotle pizza on-a-stick
Camel on-a-stick
Grilled marshmallow, chocolate and banana sandwich

I'll pass on the camel and pig ear, but the rest of it sounds pretty tempting.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 119: Legands of the Foopers

Well, I guess I'm going to the fair after work today. Family is going and they're picking me up. Its the 4-H beef heifer show tonight, so we're going to check that out and then see whatever else we need to. I'll slew foot Sloe Gin if I see him.

I can't wait for a 1)malt at the dairy building 2)mouth trap cheese curds (1150 calories acording to fishwrap west  ) 3)pig ears 4)big fat bacon 5)fresh cut french fries 6)all you can drink milk

I have actually heard that pig ears are very tasty, I'm looking forward to trying them. Camel, I'm a little more on the fence there, seems like it would be a very tough meat.

Everything I hear points to Minnesota and Texas having the best state fairs in the country, bar none. Texas might edge us out, but then again, we don't have to live in Texas. :D If you're ever in a position to go, you should - bring some friends along and you won't be disappointed.
Texas does have the advantage of having the Red River Shootout as the centerpeice to their State Fair...

I would like to make it there one year to compare...

You forgot Sweet Martha's cookies.

I need to figure out a time to go...have to work tonight, unfortunately...

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 119: Legands of the Foopers

You can see heifers there every day. So I doubt you are missing anything. :D

I'm considering going tonight to the fair for a short time after work to get dinner. Like 3-6. I usually hit the bar on Thursday so i'd be spending money either way.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 119: Legands of the Foopers

Who doesn't! :D

Looking for a date?

Afternoon, Lodge. I must have eaten something off yesterday because my stomach is rolling and rumbling today. Hasn't made for a particularly fun day to take care of the girls, unfortunately. :( I don't think they've noticed, but I certainly am not on my A-game today. I also wonder if some is part of the nervousness of my first deadlines for grad school approaching. I kept getting notices that BC had not sent my transcripts from my summer classes, even though I had requested them on 7/28, 8/8, and 8/18. I got a notice that they were received today, but I'm not sure that they'll be processed and mailed in time for my September deadlines. :( Luckily, the school I really want to attend doesn't have a deadline until December (they do rolling admissions), but I still don't want to have wasted the 80$ in application fees to the 2 September deadline schools. :( *sigh*

He there Lodge. Greetings from the Paramount lot. Took a walk around and went through the Glee set. Sadly, they are either not filming this week or are on hiatus as there was no one around. But I was able to walk through the fake high school, the Glee room and Mr. Schuester's office, Sue Sylvester's office and the teacher's lounge. Community also films here. I walked by Annie and Abed's StarWagons. I may take another stroll by there to see if anyone else is on set there. Doubtful, but you never know.

CC to gmann - What?? I thought you would have liked to talk about Beaver on Beaver action. ;) :D

Finally have gotten ahold of the chiropractor in town here to talk about possably setting up shop in one of his spare rooms in his office. He's still interested in it, but is thinking it over with his partner. :)
