Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 118: BoredboredboredBORED

It's a two "Springs" weekend for the Shots: Manitou and Colorado. A golf course I've played before and liked quite well and one neither of us has played. Three terrific restaurants on the menu for Fri-Sat-Sun nights. The weather jockeys are cooperating by guessing the high temps will stay in the mid 80s. A short drive from metro-Denver and we'll arrive for complimentary happy hour--from four to six--at our getaway for the weekend. I hope you have a good one, too, ladies and gents.:)
The weekend you happen to venture south and we're headed up to Castle Rock! You must have planned it that way. I hope you enjoy the best part of the Front Range this weekend!
I miss both Springs. I know Twitch said it's overrated, but I heart the arcade in Manitou.
And also, The Ancient Mariner Bar in Manitou is a fave of mine, even though I've only been there a couple times.
Finally, the mountain paths in CO Springs are pretty cool, even according to someone who is afraid of heights. And the zoo rules.
I still haven't done the arcade, and now I'm looking forward to the Ancient Mariner as well. Thanks for the tip!
Almost every morning this guy gets on my bus, rides downtown, gets off and runs down the block full sprint, crossing at least 2 streets. I think to catch a connecting bus.

I also think he has either a mental disability or disease that causes him to not be quite right. As it seems like he has some involuntary movement and he does just about everything the same each morning in a very obvious way.

If the bus is delayed by simple things like red lights, or people messing with change for the fare you can tell he is upset about it. He will stomp his foot or even swear. This is the part combined with the running that makes me think he is cutting a bus connection really close.

So today he again goes through this routine, and our bus was probably 2 minutes later than normal getting to his (and my) stop. So he jets off the bus, runs down the block... boom! Hit by a taxi as he tried to run across a red.

But apparently catching his connection was more important than being hit by a car, as he got up and ran off as if nothing had happened. I don't think the taxi was going full speed, but it was enough to put him up on the hood and then onto the ground in front of the car.

Very strange morning.
At least it wasn't a "Meet Joe Black" sort of collision. But the roll-up-the-hood thing, I thought that stuff just happened in movies. Awesome!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 118: BoredboredboredBORED

Legalize weed.
Tax revenue on that would not offset a trillion dollar deficit.

Assumptions:
-20% of population will consume it (60 million people)
-Average amount purchased annually: $1000 per person
-Gross amount purchased annually: $60 billion

Even if you slapped a 20% tax on all purchases, that's $12 billion.

Add in a tax at the production level, and you're still under $50 billion.

Even if you adjust the average amount consumed/purchased and the tax rates, it's still not going to fix the deficit on its own. Plus the government would have to spend some of this money to regulate it the same way they regulate the production of any controlled substance.

At best, you might put a smallish 5-10% dent in the deficit via legalization.

You have a point. However, if the government could somehow take over and control Frito Lay (Doritos) then maybe we are on to something. :p

Wouldn't the cost of regulation be offset somewhat by the decrease in costs of enforcing the current ban?

Plus, I don't care if it doesn't wipe out the deficit, I still think it should be legalized. (yes, that is the hippie in me :) )

Morning!

Here is a short story of my morning so far.

Very strange morning.

Possibly autism/Asperger's. It's common for them to be obsessed with timing and schedules and get very upset if they are interrupted, even by a minute. Add in a tight connection with another bus, and voila.

I mostly agree with what you have listed, but you didn't touch on the reduction in law enforcement, courts and incarceration costs due to nobody getting thrown in the stony lonesome for smoking weed (unless they were operating a motor vehicle or other activities where you need to be alert)
Still, it's a step in the right direction IMO.

When we're done, we can BBQ AND fry them :)

1 or 2 yr old birds are better suited for soup, you'll be wasting your time BBQing them or frying them

LOL... I don't think so. (at least not until she's 35 or 40)

Funny thing is I have never smoked weed and I hate the smell of it. I just don't think it should be illegal.

With a name like legal "hit" I am not buying it. ;)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 118: BoredboredboredBORED

I run across these people every day when I'm at work. People who go shopping in their PJs, heavy-set people who wear their shirts half-buttoned so their chest hair is sticking out, women with muffin tops, etc. And one day I saw a rather large woman walking through the store wearing nothing but a sports bra and a pair of sweat pants... enough to make me gag.

Good morning, Lodge.
Yeah, honestly some people need a freaking mirror, and more sensable shoes.
Birds are doing fine. Still getting lots of eggs

Once their laying days are over, there will be a mass "processing". I'll keep all the local posters in mind for this event and have a gathering with knives. When we're done, we can BBQ AND fry them :)

Yeah, thats what I was about to say. They're just going to be too rubbery by then.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 118: BoredboredboredBORED

Finally got the ambition to clean the MTU Lode office. Well, it's so hot in here, I think I might die. **** you, ambition.

I guess I'm too late to warn you how they tend to maintain their office. Sounds like nothing has changed.

JF - at least you aren't getting bombarded with Michigan's political ads.

The entire staff is basically a breath of fresh air to this place, and we've all got some pretty awesome ideas (and more ambition than probably the last 5 E-Boards combined), so I think you might actually see decent things from the Lode this year. If I could just get through this cleaning... :p

I won't be seeing any of it, being gradumatated for a year and all. :p

Not holding my breath though.
