Good morning, Lodge!

There are 85 days until the start of the season.

It is so dry here the bushes are wilting. UGH.
Come on, lubrication should be second nature to you by now.

Good morning tLodge!

FALSE

Nope. I stayed down below with you.
I knew someone did, just couldn't remember who. :o

Yeah, but they're girls and feel that remodeling isn't something they should be doing. In all fairness, the older one has been doing the shopping, cooking and laundry for the past week and a half so her mother could contribute sweat equity to the project. The younger one should be terminated with extreme prejudice!
I was never that much of a girly girl. I think I would have rather helped with the demo than cleaned and did laundry.

I will. As soon as recover from the embarrassment of my landlord coming in with a prospective renter while I was sitting on the couch in briefs and a tank-top, eating a bowl of cereal with the tv on and my textbook on the couch.

I believe they're supposed to. To be fair, he did ring the doorbell before unlocking the door. I was putting aside the bowl of cereal and textbook when they came in.
He really should have called first. Period.

Just found out that the proposed next research project that I'm probably working on, following the UND project, is a research project at Cornell. I'm making the college hockey rounds.
Sweet!

Evening, Lodge. Feeling a lot better today; the iron seems to be working.
Wish mine worked that fast. I am feeling better today, but that might be because I spent most of yesterday in bed.

Hey kids. Been a crazy busy few days. And I've been out every night after work. I decided to take tomorrow off. It's going to be nice out tomorrow. Looking forward to not doing anything. I think I'll get my car inspected. And sit by the pool.

There's some supposed big announcement at work next week in one of the business units I support. I'm actually feeling a little weirded out by it, like I wonder if there is the slightest chance that I might lose my job. God, I hope not. :o I read that article that 'ewe linked to and I don't feel that good.
Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Oh, and you'll be happy to know we have TV again.

My shirt smells funky. I need to find a new detergent. :o
Try a cup of baking soda in the wash, add it at the beginning with your detergent. It really seems to help.

Or, he could try showering and using a deodorant. :p

Funny. Its the shirt itself that smells weird, not me. :p

edit:
Also found out that when I cover for my co-worker when he's out on paternity leave, I may have to travel to a customer site (landfill) in New York to commission an engine setup. I looked for the town on google maps, and the marker ended up being in the middle of nowhere, northeast of Syracuse.

Just wear the shirt there that you're wearing now and no one will notice the funky smell.

I've been up there to go racing. It's too bad you won't be there in the winter, there's some great snowmobiling up there.

No, I don't want to say the name of the town, because I don't want people to know the specific project I'm working on, due to confidentiality concerns, but lets just say that I typed it into google and zoomed in to see that all the "town" was was a town hall at an intersection of 2 county roads. :p

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 116: Who's to blame for the lack of a new thread this morning?

It's been quite the month thus far. My wife and I hosted 10-12 members over various factions of her family while in Breck of July 4th weekend. Four of the people who stayed with us are my wife's cousins and their two daughters, the older of whom is getting married tomorrow in the cathedral adjacent to the Brown Palace in downtown Denver.

Mrs. Shot's cousins have been in town all week and each night various and sundry groupings have assembled for outings on and about the town. Last night's adventure culminated in an impromptu dinner for twenty-five, [yes, 25] at our favorite downtown Chinese bistro.

Tonight, the groom's family is hosting the rehearsal dinner for one hundred people. The bulk of those attending are in the 25-30 year old category. There's an open bar. It's a warm steamy day. It's a Friday night, in the summer, in downtown Denver. Glad I'm not picking up the tab on that one.

Tomorrow afternoon is the wedding followed by a dinner reception, for one hundred forty people, at the Brown Palace. The bride and her parents got the idea to hold the reception at the Brown Palace from me and my wife as that's where we held held ours when we were married and they were guests in attendance. The father of the bride is a successful industrial engineer who oversees construction of power plants of all types in major cities just about everywhere. He does quite well [$$$$] thank you.

My wife is happiest when she gets to be around large gatherings of her family, so the last week and a half has been, and today and tomorrow will be, real treats for her, and me too.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.:)

Today is day 8 of the Union strike. They won't go back to the bargaining table till Monday.

I fear for my job. There is enough to keep busy in the lab for another three weeks... after that... :(

Anyone have connections to get good airline fares? I don't want to pay $299+ for RT to Atlanta over Thanksgiving. :(

I know SG flies free, but that doesn't really help me. :D

It's already July... :( I'd wait until Tuesday afternoon and see if you can get a better deal (for some reason flight prices seem to be lowest that day). Try flying on off days (maybe fly down Wednesday am or Tuesday afternoon and come back on Saturday?).

$299 is Tuesday night to Saturday already.

I hate to say this, but that sounds like a decent fare. But 'Ewe is right, check on fares again on Tuesday or Wednesday, it is sometimes cheaper to buy tickets those days.

I was thinking the same thing (especially if he's coming from MSP). I flew roundtrip there from Boston in Sept. 08 for about 299$, so I don't think it's unreasonable to be paying that for Atlanta roundtrip.
