New music sounds awesome. I'm not wild about the guy's voice, but I think with listening to more of the stuff, I could definitely come around. Made me want to dig out my favorite Dimmu Borgir stuff. I'll have to check out the other melodic death bands.
I might make some popcorn and watch some of the stuff on my DVR.
I believe you are correct on the GLM liking Opeth. Those are for the band that actually pays. This one's for fun. I like metal a whole lot, but there's no money in it.
DT (and us, I guess) is considered, by us metal dorks, melodic death metal: slow, deathy/growly vocals, lots of melody, few blast beats if any. Opeth is more prog-like and acoustic at times (hell, I think that homo GLM even likes them) and Cradle is... um... black metal, I suppose.
In Flames, Shadows Fall and Soilwork are also in that "melodic death" subgenre.

I'll have to hit up GLM for some suggestions.I've not heard much, but I think you might actually like Opeth.
I can give you some suggestions...
Sadly, my cupcake pans are in Pennsylvania still.Cupcakes.
