Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 113: Whutchu talkin' about, Meyer?

Sounds like a fun place.

Evening, Lodge. The honey-mustard garlic rubbed pork chops I made tonight turned out fine, so that's good.

I'm not thrilled about having to go back in for surgery on my right arm; the wound from the first surgery isn't healing properly, so the surgeon will have to clean it up.
Good luck!

(and the pork chops sound yummy)

Did I miss a memo? Is there no such thing as stand by? My flight is at 1:20. There's an earlier flight at 12:05 and the woman at the gate told me if I wasn't gold or platinum level it would cost me $50. I thought if you rebook and that flight was more ther was a rebooking fee plus the cost difference in the ticket. I've flown standby before and didn't have to pay.

Welcome to Chicago. :D
It's not just Chicago, and yes, you missed the memo at least on some airlines. :(

Good point. I can't believe I didn't think of this.

But I still want my cigar, so I can fight zombies in style. Perhaps a pipe, instead? Which goes better with a shotgun?

Depends. If it's a stylish over/under or side by side double barrel, I'd think a pipe would look pretty sharp.
If you're holding a big old .12 gauge pump with a shortened barrel and a bandoleer of shells - Cigar.

That's just me though :)

What about all those poor people who actually ARE stuck in England and need money wired?

I guess it's the cigar for me: my scattergun. It's the fixed-stock variant, ideal for home defense (and zombie hunting).

I disagree. I think a cigar goes fine with any shotgun. When the zombie apocalypse inevitably arrives, I'll be out there with a cigar and my great granddad's Ithaca .20 gauge side-by-side double barrel.

I think a pipe would look better with a bolt action rifle, or maybe muzzle loader. Just be careful not to mix up your tobacco and your powder!

If he does, he'll only make that mistake one time.

Holy chit. Crazy, busy day here.
That's great. I don't think anyone was suggesting you run out and buy a soccer jersey.
I wouldn't even know the first place to look for a soccer jersey. I don't think I've ever seen one. :p
Yes, including such delicacies as fried baloney sandwiches and a few other stereotypically "redneck" food items (plus the usual burgers, sandwiches, calorie-laden "salads", country-ish dinner entrees, etc.) ;)
If a 16oz. ribeye is too country for you, that is just fine. I will gladly eat the extras. ;)

So I need to get some cigars to go with my Weatherby .12 gauge. Good to know. :D

I thought of the Lodge today when I saw Bird Voltron at lunch. Seriously, a red, a yellow, a blue, a black and a brown (not green :( ) birds flew in front of me in a bunch. I'm pretty sure if I had stopped I may have seen them assemble into Voltron.

This is yet another sign of the imminent Zombie Apocalypse:

1. WTW's coworker has a 4th baby boy and fails to bring cigars to the office
2. Bird Voltron disrupts wT's lunch
3. RFAlph marries Jennifer Connelly
4. Zombie Apocalypse

Hey tBaer, have you met anyone new lately?

The Good, the bad and the ugly?

Where. Have. You. Been??? I feel like you haven't posted in, like, forevah.

Hi kids. I'm home. I chose to not pay the $50 mostly out of principle and stayed on my 1:20pm flight. We landed 20 minutes early and there was actually a gate open!

Not sure what to do for dinner. I think I'm just going to scramble a couple of eggs. I called my mom to see if she was cooking and she wasn't. :p And it's kinda cool out and raim is looming so I think I'm just going to stay in.

Bob - glad your second surgery went well. How does one not use an arm for 2 weeks?? Good luck with that!

As for birth announcements, one of the coolest ones I saw was a Hershey bar wrapped in pink paper with "It's a" printed on it and the cut out showed the SHE through the opening. You could do it for a boy too!

That's all well and good, but on the eve of the Zombie Apocalypse I'd rather have a cigar.
