That's been going on for years everywhere. Remember there were 12 oz cans of pop. Then it was 16 oz bottles. Then it was 16oz with 4 oz free (making 20 oz). Now 20 oz is the standard size, and you have liter (LITER) bottles.

Bigger, better, faster, more. It's the American Way.
If you get the cups from gas stations, the sizes are worse (since you can get things like the big gulp or whatever that are 44(?) ounces. McD's used to offer supersized items, and the largest size of a blizzard at DQ used to be gigantic. I mean it was a ****ing tub.

Howdy kids. Just got home after spending the day in Boston with my nieces. We went out to breakfast, then took the T to the New England Aquarium. Spent an hour or so there. Went to the Old Town Trolley kiosk. Part of the ticket price included a harbor cruise, so we did that for an hour. Then went to Faneuil Hall Marketplace for a quick lunch (which hit the spot). Then finally hopped on the trolley. That tour took almost two hours. We didn't get off anywhere. Some woman brought an infant. Who brings an infant on a trolley tour like that? The baby started to cry and she had to feed it. From where I was sitting it looked like she was breastfeeding. Thankfully she wasn't.

Anyway, we're hanging back here at my place for another hour or so and then heading to Texas Roadhouse for dinner. Then Coldstone Creamery for dessert. Yes. Two chain restaurants.

It was really nice out tonight. Not too hot, kinda cloudy so no beating sun all day. Good times. Literally.

Back from bike riding. I'm too tired to read 3 pages of posts. Where's WTW? ;)

It's all about perceived value. The middle class, who view eating a chain places as a "big night out", want the best bang for their buck. Thus, these restaurants (which, in the end, are all really the same place with different decor and some different menu items) strive to outdo one another somehow.

This.
I, personally, justify it by knowing that I won't eat the entire plate while I'm there. I eat enough to where I'm satisfied but not stuffed, then get a box. Usually, I'm left with enough food for 2 more meals. Problem solved.

Applebees tries hard with their "Weight Watchers" menu. Some of that is actually legit, and NPB either. I just hate the judgmental look I get from people when I order one of those things. I even had a waitress scoff once. *k you, Princess. There went your tip.

I wish I could pull off taking a shower while asleep... I could get up a whole 10-15 minutes later :p

If your bed is near a window, you could leave the window open. I think that you would succeed with your request tonight. :D

This went unreplied to in the Diet & Exercise thread... but this issue is popping up again.

I'm looking into rec leagues in the area and I really could stand to get a good pair of gym shoes. Are there any particular recommendations out there? Any stores that might be of help? Can one go into a running store and get some reasonable advice?

My current "gym shoes" are a mess with no tread (they were no good in volleyball season but they're what I have). I'll be playing volleyball again at work in the fall/winter and I'm looking at contacting some "ball hockey" leagues or other sports along those lines... indoor soccer, other volleyball leagues... etc.

Good Evening, Lodge!

The Polish grocery store I went to today is officially on my awesome evil list. I found Baltika beer and bought 5 bottles of it today. 2 1/2 are gone as we speak. Mind you, I have been sharing with Mr. wore Black. They had a section of the store dedicated to vodka. I just about passed out looking at it. Had to get pierogies, mushroom soup, and Polish candy. A must go to again, or I can ask my co-worker to get me the stuff.

Wow...switching from night to day has really been messing with your mind. This is the nicest comment you have made to me. :p ;)
Yeah, being on day hours almost makes me a decent human being... almost. :p

Decent means that you are polite to the majority. You are still as smartarse but working day time. ;)

Does this mean that you will be attending the F5 next year?

This stint on day mode is only temporary; I'm on vacation 'til June 6th.

I've applied for two day positions, but I haven't heard anything from HR regarding those.
