Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #111: Filling in for the night shift

Well duh - why do you *think* I'm back in college :p :D

Ya got me there.

I subscribe to the following:

The Joker: Do I really look like a guy with a plan? You know what I am? I'm a dog chasing cars. I wouldn't know what to do with one if I caught it. You know, I just... do things

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #111: Filling in for the night shift

Good luck, Bob!

Prayers for you- hope all goes well!

Good luck with that Bob. Make sure you do what they say afterwards

Good luck! :(

Good Luck, Shirtless

Good luck guys!
Any leftover pain meds thrown my way are appreciated. My Mothers Day gift to Mrs. Gonzo was weeding the flower gardens. I'm sore all over :(

Shirtless - good luck with the surgery and the healing!.
Thanks; the surgery went well. They had crackers waiting for me when I got done, and then I went out for a nice steak sandwich afterward. :) I'm not supposed to drive for two weeks, let alone do much else. Not even supposed to shower for a couple days...

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #111: Filling in for the night shift

Bob, when my buddy broke his arm, they said don't shower for a couple days. He simply Saran-wrapped the * out of his arm, and then took a shower. He was fine.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #111: Filling in for the night shift

Just got back from seeing the shoulder doc. I have a small tear in my rotator cuff tendon. It ain't going to heal itself. Surgery scheduled for June 1. :(

4-6 weeks in a sling, 4-6 months rehab. :(
Everyone is breaking in here. That stinks goldy! Hang in there (not from that arm tho)

Here is something really pathetic for you. For a couple days a few weeks ago both my arms were incredibly sore. The reason? pushing the little g's on the swing. :o
I raked a long jump pit last week for 2 hours. I was a train wreck.

For those of you keeping score from home whenever we have casual day at the office I usually show up wearing the stars and stripes speedo, an A-team cut off t shirt and cowboy boots. :p

I was going to say something but I find the thought of this makes me speechlesss.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #111: Filling in for the night shift

I now know why I couldn't find my keys this morning and had to settle for driving my mom's car that I'm trying to sell - I didn't look in the tissue box. It only took me 45 minutes for interspersed searching to find them.

Apparently, when I was setting my pocket contents upon the table, I wasn't careful, and the keys fell into the tissue box next to everything else. I need to be more careful.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #111: Filling in for the night shift

Oh, and speaking of casual days, starting this coming Monday and going until June 11, we have all casual days. It's because the M***** merger and people have let their stress levels peak. I'm cool-as-a-cucumber guy because I've delegated my responsibilities to more competent people (sort of). I'll just have a normal work day come May 29 while others will be in the office all weekend long.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #111: Filling in for the night shift

Well, its not usually that cheap, so don't get too jealous. It is nice for the summer to find somewhere cheap, while I'm just between places.

Excuse me, I have the sudden urge to strangle you :p I wonder what my life would have been like had I gone to Minnesota.

Hammer, Clown, ewe, les... and whomever I've missed.

I get it to some degree. I just don't know where I should be going. What I'd personally like is to have the next 5 years to feel things out without having to worry about it. I'll save one way or another... its what I do. I'd like to acclimate to my new life... while I'm not 22 I'd like some latitude. I want to relax... i want to alleviate myself of my self-concerns about myself. Get into shape and then advance that into a more professional look. I want to get out and do things, enjoy life, and I want to do it with people that I can have fun with. I'd like to think, at least for the short term, that I should do whatever I want within reason so long as its more positive than negative.

Having finished school is it OK just to work on the short term for now?

gmann, question, where does one find a good stars and stripes speedo? I'm thinking that it could play an integral part in Operation Hot Roommates.

Is that so they won't just laugh at your junk?

An integral part in them kicking you out of the apartment? I thought you were looking forward to hooking up with them.

Its because its awesome, isn't it? :p

Every day at work is casual Friday since there's no dress code and we're not in the city. I think the only people in suits are the division chiefs and the lawyers. Unfortunately some days the dress code is worse than others. I think in the end, at least where I work, you are as dressed well as you desire. I flip between RL Polo shirts, solid colored dress pants all week long, and brown shoes. Tomorrow I dig out the UML River Hawk polo shirt. For each person its as you make it... one of our guys wore shirt and tie all week... only then to wear a blue shirt and jeans that was more like he was going clubbing right after work.

I've done that before, only my keys fell off the table and into another pair of shoes. I got up the next morning and couldn't find them. I had to use my spare set of keys to the truck to drive around the block and retrace the route I took the night before when I went for a bike ride. They had my office keys in it too. I tried to leave for work at 7:40 and wound up rolling in shortly before 9:15. :o

As long as you plan for such, sure. I'm not saying that you need to save every penny you have and sit at home and play PS3 all day. Just build in some "me time" into your plan, whether it's a vacation or what not.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #111: Filling in for the night shift

That would be my share.

For reference, the house we rented in Houghton, was 4 people, $250/person, an entire house and yard and 2 car garage. Granted, it was in Houghton. :p

I rented a place for 4 people for $150/person/month one year (4br, 1ba, all utilities included, but otherwise *tty.) After my roommate very nearly burned it down, we got the rent reduced to $125/person/month. :D

Get well soon!

:p

They may just want to throw me a ttp.

They may just want to give you a piece of tt to hide behind. :p

I rented a duplex in Hancock where the landlord gave us the option of paying $1200 up front for the entire year. Only had to pay utilities after that, split up among 10 of us.

My final apartment at Tech was literally a room at a roadside motel that had been purchased by a local real estate mogul and inexplicably converted into a studio apartment. I paid $370 a month, all utilities included, furnished with kitchenette, bed, and bathroom. It even had a lock on the door that caused a little "Do Not Disturb" sign to appear outside.

If I didn't hate the UP so much, I could retire within 10 years and move there. I could prepay a 10 year lease for the cost of a Kia. That's just comical.

Go to Detroit and you can have yourself a house for four figures.

Was it, by chance, the one along US-41 right by the Citgo just as you're getting in to Houghton?

On the topic of casual days--on Fridays at GHS, staff can pay $1 "Blues Dues" and wear jeans and casual wear. The money goes in to a student fund to help if their family has a crisis, and whatever is left at the end of the year goes toward a scholarship. Subs don't technically have to participate, but I do. When people have called me out on not being in professional dress on Fridays, I counter by saying that I'm acting as one of the staff would, and I get a lot of positive feed back when I do things like that.
