Morning Lodge

Yes, it's Friday, but I have to work tomorrow. Although it's not like there's much to do at home tomorrow except watch it rain and stare at the mud.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 105: 2010 Assessment

Good morning. More HS hockey today. Woot!

Jesus is my co-pilot... He'll also make runs into the convience store when I refuel. :p

I was driving home early Sunday morning through Bakersfield Listening to gospel music on the colored radio station
And the preacher said, "You know you always have theLord by your side"
And I was so pleased to be informed of this that I ranTwenty red lights in his honor
Thank you Jesus, thank you lord

One of my favorite tracks off of the "Some Girls" album :D
Also one of the rare Stones albums that almost all of the tracks were good ;)

Morning Lodge.

GE, I made it up to the club for the second game yesterday, but sat in like C10 with a buddy. Sat in lower level for first game - at least second period on. Made a dumb decision and tried to find parking near the X at 11:05 AM. Finally went closer to downtown and found a ramp then walked back (should have done that first :o  ). Picked up three tickets for tonight's games from a scalper as I left yesterday. Crappy seats, but we'll try to move. It'd be funny if this Edina team took it after failing for three years with all the studs they had.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 105: 2010 Assessment

I am confused as to why Hill-Murray is the #4 and not the #2.

Minnetonka vs Hill-Murray should be the final.

Looked to me like the cakers decided to take out a couple years of frustration on the Rams. So far the AV goalie is the player of the tourney, will be interesting to see if Edina can sneak a few past him or if we're in for another Reggie Miracle!

The Boss & I are going tonight, I'm hoping for some OT just because it will drive her nuts (and I'm a stinker). :D

You probably know this, I saw there was a Taft on the SW team who beat Edina in '70, is that his kid on this year's Edina team?

I don't know, but I know people who do. I'll ask around tonight. Did you see in the Strib this AM that the Cutshall kid and the Chapman kid are sons of players from the '82 Edina team (and one is Budish's cousin). The Edina teams are becoming more like range teams where it's all 2nd and 3rd generations (there are several Hankinsons in the pipeline too). Small town hockey. ;)

ETA: I think this Edina team is better at throwing pucks at net and then crashing to move the pile than Blaine is. More grinders than slick skill players.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 105: 2010 Assessment

The segment during the last intermission they did on Mpls/SP city schools in the tourney featured my HS teams jersey. I was excited since they rarely have ever gone.

I think the last time was 94 or 95 and they gave up like 10 goals to Hermantown or something.

Edit: It was 1994. Hibbing 8, Edison 3 in the QF. They then went on to win the Consolation Final that year. Beating Breck 4-1, and Hermantown 6-3.

Morning, Lodge. No particular horse in the MN HS hockey tournament anymore, but I'm not sure if I can bring myself to root for cake-eaters. :p

Sooo, in class AA you're left with . . . nothin? I guess you could say AV, but they have a few nice modest $.5 M home down there too. I'd say they're the closest thing to non-cake-eater and an underdog too, so there's your pick. 'Course after the first game tonight, they'll be done, then you got Hornets, Skippers and Pie-in-ears. No blue collars in the bunch. :p

The Pioneers are a collection of humble working stiffs from St. Paul's East Side (at least that's what Rookie told me last night). Having a Cotroneo on the team should give that away. ;)

Bruce Springsteen is going to a high school hockey game with you?

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 105: 2010 Assessment

My NMUBaseball website was hacked a few weeks back, and I finally had a chance to clean it up and get it back working right. Luckily the hacker was apparently lazy and only changed files named "index.*"

After updating all the index pages (thank you Archive.org for rescuing the Newbie guide main page), I just wanted to mention that just in time for the playoffs the USCHO Newbie Guide has a somewhat easier URL.

http://newbie.nmubaseball.net

it redirects to the hosted page at:
http://www.nmubaseball.net/uscho/newbie/

If you think n00b would be a more apt short url name, let me know. :D

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 105: 2010 Assessment

You can get a bartending license in MN at 18. One of my SCSU roommates did it on weekends.

ETA: In Iowa City you can enter a bar at 19, according to another one of my buddies who went there.
In NH you only needed to be 18 to serve and it used to be that you only needed to be 15 or 16 to ring it up in the grocery store. Though I think that has changed. One my recent trips home, I was buying some beer and the cashier had to call her manager over to ring up the beer. I hate holding up the rest of the people in line, so this was a bit embarrassing for me.

From what I understand, there's a law (or perhaps just an unwritten "rule") in WI that if you are 18 and at a restaurant and/or bar with your parents, you can drink if they say it's OK. Heard that from a guy I knew who was from WI, so read into that what you will.
That's the way it should be.

I am so happy it's Friday! I get to leave work early tonight to head to a friend's birthday party. Music, good food and good friends. I might even be able to get a hockey game on the TV. Need to find out what game NESN is covering tonight. Now, if only my husband were here with me, the night would be perfect. :o
