Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 105: 2010 Assessment

Pi day and steak and bj day.

morning lodge.

I'm a bit bummed about this. The bf is 6 hours away, there isn't any steak in the house, and my brother doesn't really like pie (I was going to make either sweet vidalia onion pie or spinach pie for dinner, I'm not much of a dessert pie maker...).

Morning, ... er, afternoon, lodge. Woke up a little later than I expected today. Though one perk to the parents being away all week and them converting my bedroom into a pantry is that I get to sleep in their bed while they're gone. Aside from the fact that the top of the mattress is 4' off the ground (it requires a bit of a hop/leap to get in). :o Very comfy though, I slept like the dead.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 105: 2010 Assessment

Hello Lodge.

Don't have much going on today.

Looking forward to this next week.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 105: 2010 Assessment

St. Mark's. Our kids go/went to school there and I would highly recommend it, my son is now a junior at STA and doing very well & my 8th grade daughter will be at CDH next year.

We had the obligatory Irish Tenor for guest Cantor today at St. Patrick's.

The sky here is this odd color (blue?) and there is this yellow colored disk in the sky today.

Who's hot, who's not? Who's a pretender, who's a contender?

In order of their standing among the current top 16 teams in the PWR before games resume later today, here are the records of all 16 teams since January 1, 2010. [UAH and any AHA team are not included]. I apologize if I've miscounted a team's W-L-T record. This chart is meant to give fans a quick view as to who's on a roll as the playoffs continue and who is struggling. Each of the teams listed has played roughly twenty games since 1/1/10.

1. Denver 16-2-2
2. Miami 12-4-2
3. Wisconsin 13-4-2
4. B.C. 13-7-1
5. NoDak 12-6-2
6. St. Cloud 13-5-2
7. Bemidji 10-5-3
8. Yale 13-5-1
9. Ferris 8-8-4
10. Cornell 12-4-2
11. UNH 9-6-4
12. NMU 12-3-4
13. Alaska 9-6-5
14. Vermont 8-7-5
15. Lowell 9-9-3
16. Duluth 10-10-0

Morning Lodge.

Just came within 100 feet of a moose in an empty parking lot I was trying to turn around in. Needless to say, that accelerated the turnaround quite well

Did you know that there is this place called "D1" that would be absolutely perfect for this type of post.

Not a drop yet, but its coming. My garden could be rototilled, walked all thru it yesterday, couldn't believe how dry it was
The guy next door had his driveway wash out again this AM. I have a moat. It does seem to be slowing down tho.

what "math"?
Algebra.

It's there for me. Did you click on the little arrow on the right by mistake to hide it?
Didn't do anything. It was completely missing, even when I refreshed. It is there now:confused:

Back from church. It is not nice out. Monsoon at 40 degrees. BRR.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 105: 2010 Assessment

Seeing les' and Scarlet's posts makes me worry about my house! :o I hope it's still there when I get back on Friday. Hopefully the next door neighbors cap the drain so that there isn't a flood when I get back.

Not only that but he also forgot to put an * by PU.

* = PU played a bunch of cupcakes and more than likely will be a one and done in the post season once they face some real competition. :)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 105: 2010 Assessment

BPH, Thanks for the rep. Tech played well this weekend, period. On Friday Denver outshot your team by a 2-1 margin, but Robinson was terrific in goal and kept Tech in the game from start to finish.

On Friday, Denver outshot Tech 17-7 in the first period. Last night the roles were reversed in the first period with Tech outshooting Denver 16-4 and enjoying a solid territorial advantage in the first twenty minutes. One advantage Denver had both nights was that it scored the first goal, courtesy of Jesse Martin each time. Through the course of the second and third periods Denver controlled much of the play and had a decided advantage in shots. Nevertheless, it was a closely contested series and Tech is to be commended for its play especially in light of the fact several of its top scorers were unable to play because of injuries.

The Maiani-Martin-Ostrow line was Denver's most productive line all weekend and kudos should be given to Tech for holding the Colborne-Ruegsegger-Rakhshani line in check for almost the entire weekend. Tech was impressive in the series despite having an injury plagued roster. I was impressed with the team's grit and determination. The team competed hard and never quit.

Not a problem, Shot. I'm glad that we can compete with the best teams in the nation on any night, and that we're respected as a worthy opponent. Still, it would be nice to have more to show for it. :o

BPH, I'm much older than you. I well remember the John MacInnes-coached, Mike Zuke-led teams of Tech in the mid 1970s. In three consecutive seasons, 74-75-76, Tech and Minnesota met in the NCAA title game. I don't think in my lifetime any two teams will duplicate that feat.

Twenty-six seasons have now come and gone for Tech since it rejoined the WCHA. In two of those seasons Tech has posted a winning record. In twenty-two of those seasons Tech has posted a losing record. In two of those seasons Tech has posted a .500 record. My contemporaries and I are absolutely stunned that Tech could ever endure such a prolonged stretch of futility.

I understand that for you and your contemporaries you have known Tech only as a team for which poor records are a certainty or a way of life. Please know that there are college hockey fans outside Houghton, or who have no tie to Tech, who remember what a successful and proud program Tech was under John MacInnes. I number myself among those eagerly awaiting the day when Tech will annually be among the contenders for WCHA titles.

Hang in there.

I doubt that will ever happen again as long as we have a 16-team or even a 12-team tournament. Occasionally, one team may dominate enough to compete for a title three years in a row (BC being the most recent example), but that team matching up against the same opponent all three years is far less likely than it was 35 years ago.
