Definitely worth a visit to Matt's Bar. The Nook's/Shamrock's Juicy Nookies are an okay substitute, but they're definitely not the original. (Never had those at the 5-8 Club.)

5-8 is very good & the Blue Door Pub, while a very late entrant into the Jucy Lucy world, might be the best of the bunch. :eek:

I've heard good things about the Blue Door - maybe we'll have to hit them (or another) place a couple days after the original.

Great beer menu, too. Sadly it's the size of my closet so getting a table is difficult.

I was told by informed people that if you get a Jucy Lucy somewhere other than Matt's then you're doing it wrong.

I'd go after work, or anytime between when I get done with work on Thursday and when I go to work Monday morning. :D

I've had Matt's and The Nook's, both were good, but Matt's was better. I've also had imitations at other various TC restaurants, they don't come close.

Don't let these Minneapolis hayseeds take you around the block; there are several places throughout the Twin Cities where a great Juicy Lucy can be had. (Like the Groveland Tap, conveniently located two blocks from my house in Saint Paul.) That doesn't mean Matt's isn't fantastic. But watch out for food advice from people who think twice before venturing outside their own county. :p

halftime score for GVSU. Lakers up 36-34 on St. Joesphs' College of Indiana. They're quick scrappy buggers who can shoot, but I'm hoping the Lakers will able to enforce their will on the Puma's as it goes on. Puma's did do us a favor last night by knocking off the Host and Number One Seed Kentucky Wesleyan.
