Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 104: Back To Normal Sports

Evening all. Survived the day at work.

Am finally set up for the telephone/internet/dish. Is there no customer service that is customer service anymore?? Called Verizon to set up the change- ran thru the battery of both handsets, the cell and ended up on the cord phone before I could get a real person. The telephone tree alone took almost 5 minutes to navigate thru. W tee F? So they had to call me back this AM which they did to verify the info. THey did that. Then I get 2 messages today that if I do not verify my acct everything is cancelled. 2 different #s. Neither one is a direct line. 15 effing minutes on hold so I can verify what should have been verified this AM. Chick screwed up and didn't do everything. Blasted the guy and wanted to know why I didn't get a direct line to call- after all you would think that they wanted me to be a customer and was told that I should have know better than to call at this time.

Does anyone have a good service dept b'sides verizon wireless?? So far AT&T was way awful, the Comcast guy thought he could talk circles around me and thought if he was condescending I would go with them. The verizon folks are nice once you find a real person but you could be planning your funeral before you are off hold.  .
I've been going through a similar issue at work, only with trust accounting software and integrating the records from the trust company we acquired into our system of record (SOR). The "go forward" SOR is the one we've been with for about 8+ years now, a contract worth millions per year, and the SOR's customer service lady who's been assigned to help us just throws up road block after road block of what we can't or shouldn't do without offering suggestions as to what we should do with her system. She's had a few of the manager's so effing upset during some of our conference call meetings that their manager got on the call - only four steps away from our CEO. It's even come to the point where SOR lady's manager has had to get onto the phone calls to help keep the peace. The general feeling in my area is that our SOR provider is either going to fire the woman when the integration project is over in June or put her on a very short leash. I fully expect an official letter of displeasure will be sent to our SOR when the integration completes.

And now I'm calmly waiting on the battery pack to my cordless drill to charge so I can finish mounting my HDTV's wallmount. The last battery packed died after drilling three of the four holes. :(

What a tease!

Thats why you should have at least two battery packs, and always have one in the charger, ready to go.

Is this keeping you from watching your new TV? :(

I think i'd just have it on as it leans against the wall while waiting. :D

I had the dead pack on the charger. It said that the pack was fully charged. I think the pack is fried.

Yes, it is. The wall mount took a full freaking week to get here. I'm not impressed in the least.

Evening Lodge!

I'm in Dallas for a conference.

I spent most of the evening wandering around the sixth floor of the Texas School Book Depository, and some boring old grassy knoll next to it. (The highway is still open to traffic, and there's an X on the pavement in both spots where JFK was hit. It has to be creepy as hell for someone who has to commute through there to drive through that intersection every day knowing what happened there.)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 104: Back To Normal Sports

Peewees won tonight in playoffs. Live to play another day with a game on Sunday evening. If they win that they go to pool play and play both Monday and Tuesday - against the other two edina teams that made the playoffs.

When leaving the arena I warned everyone to watch the ice on the sidewalk from the melting and re-freezing - then hit a patch myself. Danced a bit and broke my fall - with my bad arm. :( Shoulder hurts like hell now.:(

Okay, so if the peewees win their next hockey game they get to play pool? That's an interesting tournament format. Will Minnesota Fats be there?

That could be the case then. I did pick up a nice 12 volt Dewalt cordless "for my Dad" about 4 years ago for christmas. He had an old Hitachi 9 volt that just really wasn't getting it done anymore, so I thought it would be a really good gift to get him. I would have opted for the 14 volt if I could have gotten my cheapskate brother to chip in on the Drill. Funny thing is we've both have probably ended up using the drill more than what Dad has. ;) :D

I think you can get the batteries (maybe the entire thing, maybe just batteries inside the old case) replaced at Batteries Plus, and they'll test them to see if that is the issue.

Evening, Lodge. I probably won't be around for a while, but I'll be thinking of you while I'm in nice, warm North Carolina.

...ignore the fact that it'll be the same temperature there as here. :o

While you're in NC, I'll be in ND. Dunno which is worse. Wait, yes I do. ND by far.

Evening Lodge!

Just got back from a couple high school hockey games. Shirtless wanted to go to see a kid that Tech is supposedly interested it. Sure enough, we ran into one of Tech's assistant coaches at the game. Also talked to former Tech goalie Cam Ellsworth, and saw Grant Potulny and Troy Jutting.

I'm holding out for a 24 volt Milwaukee cordless set.

Yes, my dad has had cordless tool batteries re-packed at batteries plus before. Its cheaper than buying new ones.

You think a repacked battery is cheaper than a replacement battery? I've not priced them out. Odd thing is, I was going through Menard's yesterday, noticed battery packs on the shelf, but didn't think to look at prices. This was the first time I've had this issue.
