I love optimization.

I hate inefficiency.

w00t! for Industrial and Operations Engineering degree.

Except to get there you have to drive through NH, and from the reports I can get on facebook, it is not good in NH. Half of my friends have lost their power. And do you really want to be on I-89 in the wind they are having?

Yeah, it does look like I would have to go through crappy weather for the whole drive. We just had a weird burst of bad weather for about 15 minutes. It stopped and now it seems OK again.

The CPE job consisted of developing engines and having to optimize fuel economy while keeping emissions, temps, pressures, etc. under specified limits. We have 6 parameters to change in order to optimize on fuel economy. Pretty complicated and interesting stuff.
You'd fit right in down here. :)
I fit right in at home too. It seems like the country is the country no matter where you are in the US. The only thing that changes is the accent.

You are enrolled at PU? :p

A good indication that you're enrolled at PU is if the professors bring cupcakes to class. Apparently it is an institution-wide phenomenon that they all just love to tear into cupcakes.

GO DENVER! BEAT MANKATO!!

I spent some time on the PU website. They offer a 100, 200 and a 300 level class called cupcake making. The 400 level class requires students to bring their own sprinkles. Under course description it read "see WCHA schedule". Taught by Mr. Gwozdecky. :p :D

Well, the accent and the quality of the housing. There are buildings down here that people live in that up north we wouldn't keep the chickens in. I have seen more falling down buildings down here, within a mile of my house than I remember seeing in my entire town in NH.

So, I called a Sparty "little brother" and he responded by calling me "big sister". I think he meant to offend me, but since I am female, I just saw it as him respecting his elders. :p

I shouldn't drink at lunch.

Is it 5 yet?

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 103: The Greatest Rep... to this point.

Just got home from class. Got 100 on my Genetics exam - the first time I've ever gotten a good grade on a science exam. The class average was 63, so she awarded everyone in the class 10pts, which pushed my 90 to 100. :) Guess all that studying, doing the problems, reading, etc. pays off...should have done that the first time around. :o

(and yes, I cried a little)

Great job! :)

I'm finding the same things out this time around, too. I still have poor study habits, but I'm making the most out of the time I do have to study. I also understand the concepts being taught, so that makes it a lot easier.

Study habits are very hard to develop because there really isn't any good guidance. When I'm in the library, I use a cube on the silent floor. When I'm at home, I study to Rammstein (German metal band) because it drowns out any possible distractions. I only study for about 45 mins. to an hour at a time, then I get up, stretch or walk around or do the dishes, then get back to it. I've found my attention span wanes if I sit any longer than that.
