Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 102: Hockey Sucks!!!

:p
This could get comedic, folks.

I'll give him props, at least he was being nice for once.

Surprising, seeing as how I refused to get out of bed this morning to go and work out with him. :o I guess maybe I'll go and work out when I turn our IM Floor Hockey roster in.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 102: Hockey Sucks!!!

Psh, what makes you think that? I'm a good Catholic girl.

Pfft. If you're anything like the "good Catholic girls" I know, then that would be reason enough to think that... ;)
Unless you're like my old roommate, the nun. She berated me every time we spoke about having Flashy over. I was not sad at all when she moved out unexpectedly.

Sounds familiar. My best friend from 8th-January of 12th grade ended our friendship because "I smoked, drank, and had sex."
Funny part of that is, I didn't smoke then, had drank twice, and was a virgin.
Her new best friend has bummed cigarettes from me, drank with me, and AFAIK is quite the whore.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 102: Hockey Sucks!!!

Morning Lodge.

I'm not religious, so not giving up anything for "Lent", but I am once again attempting no fast food. I figure it's my Chinese New Year resolution...or maybe I'm giving it up for Lent.

Happy Thursday-like-a-Friday for me! Bf and I are doing a crap ton of driving this weekend. We're going to Niagara Falls tomorrow and ending the day with Air Force at RIT hockey. Then off to Delaware Saturday to surprise Phil's dad for his birthday.

I've met his dad before, but I'm a little nervous as I will be meeting a bunch more of the family. His aunt and uncle are helping with the surprise by taking his dad out to lunch. I read the e-mail to the rest of the family inviting them to lunch and there was a line that read, "plus, this is our chance to meet Mandy".
At least you have ample warning. First time out to Michigan I met his mom and dad, an aunt and uncle, a cousin, another uncle, his sister, and a couple of other cousins. Was not expecting that.

how many times have you given up smoking now? And really, for the entire length of lent you're not going to eat fast food or drink?

I give up nothing for Lent. First off, I'm not Catholic. Second off, I'm Lutheran. We get to sin, sin, sin...followed by the deathbed repentance! Third off, I really am not a religious person anymore. Bryan Bedford is an ultra-hardcore religious nutjob and I just can't believe in the same god this idiot believes in.
I'm pretty much giving up what ctf is, except the smoking, since I don't smoke. The drinking isn't that hard. I did that a few years ago - right over Final Five and that one regional game up at the Ralph - and the only time I really wanted a drink was the play in game on the Thursday. It's all more of a spiritual journey thing for me.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 102: Hockey Sucks!!!

I'm giving up morals for Lent. :D

Like you ever had any. :p

In other topics, would someone please send me a rep? The very disturbing one from CHA is still my most recent rep.

May I suggest that any rep sent to wT is an attempt to be more disturbing than CHA's.

You can try but the key to making it really distrubing is having inside information to make it specific to something that wT finds especially distrubing.

Thankfully, rep about fictional characters is not all that disturbing. Neither is rep about people I've never met. But I was amused by both Bakunin's and Brenthoven's reps. Thank you.

See this is why general things wouldn't work. :D

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 102: Hockey Sucks!!!

I agree with this.

I'm not going to give up anything, don't see the point, but I'm not catholic either. I quit on religion after it was continually forced on me growing up. Oddly enough, I really enjoy learning about religious history of all religions, it is quite interesting to me.

Amen. 7 years of Hebrew school and 7 years of Catholic school and then I majored in religion in college. I'm done.

Checking in from the library. Trying to tough it out today. Woke up with a huge migraine, made it to class (on time), and am now trying to study for my genetics exam tomorrow so that I can go to bed early-ish tonight.

As far as the meeting the fam thing goes, poor PB came to my little brother's hockey game with me a couple weeks after we started dating. Because of some odd timing, he ended up meeting my mom, my dad, both brothers, both grandmas, grandpa, uncle, and two cousins. :p
When I go to WI with him next month, I get to meet the parents, one sister, and grandparents. There may be more, but I haven't been informed of them yet.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 102: Hockey Sucks!!!

I'm still battling a case of chest congestion, but I think the worst is behind me as I feel better today than I did two and three days ago. I think I'll be able to attend the Denver-Tech games this weekend and I'm looking forward to those.

The Pioneers have compiled a 9-1-2 record since January 1st and carry a season-best, six game winning streak into the series against Tech. Denver has played solid hockey in all three zones during its winning streak and mention should be made of goalie Marc Cheverie's outstanding play as well as the scoring contributions of junior Anthony Maiani and sophomore Joe Colborne. Chevy has posted two shutouts in that stretch and could have added one in either or both games last weekend versus Minnesota as he surrendered goals in the 59th minute on Friday and the 60th minute on Saturday.

Denver certainly has room for improvement in all three zones, but by and large has played well. Over the course of a season teams seem to develop "an identity." Speaking only for myself, Denver seems to be a team which gets scoring contributions from its top two lines, solid but not spectacular play from its defensemen and exceptional goaltending from Marc Cheverie.

I have two concerns about the team. I've been waiting through the first thirty games of the season for Denver to get scoring help from its third and/or fourth lines, but it hasn't surfaced and I think it's unlikely that at this stage of the season or in the playoffs such scoring will appear on a regular basis. Additionally, there have been too many games where Marc Cheverie has been forced to work too hard in goal, in large part, because Denver forwards and centers haven't worked hard enough in their defensive zone. In post-game assessments of the team, coach George Gwozdecky has bemoaned the fact that the team [and I'm paraphrasing here] "seems to take a we'll-let-Chevy-do-the-heavy-work attitude" when it comes to playing in its defensive zone. That mindset could lead to disaster in either the final weeks of the conference schedule or the playoffs.

I hope you get to see your favorite team in action this weekend. :)

I will be, twice:D

Done for the week as of 10:45. Not bad, not bad at all. However, I wish I was in St. Johns Antigua with my parents... it's mid-upper 80's there today. They'll be in St. Maarten tomorrow and St. Croix saturday, then back to San Juan and flying home.
