donde estas el poll-oh?

Hockey is alright tonight. We'll take the tie against Princetom, especially with RPI rolling over for Darmouth. Best of 8 points for the bye between SLU and RPI, with Toothpaste 1 point back and Quinnipiac 2 points back.

There are alot of options that seem tailor-fit for Tech. :(

Thanks for the refill, Kat :)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 102: Hockey Sucks!!!

'Morning, Lodge. I'm sick and dying, and I just stood outside for an hour watching Flashy's and Yager's broomball team curbstomp some team 20-0. I think I'm gonna squeeze in a nap now before we go to a bouncyball game.

My bolts are tingling, my Monster senses tell me I'm not going like what you have to say about bouncyball.....

Was tired of waiting on you fools!!! :p

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 102: Hockey Sucks!!!

Brent, I've been watching Minnesota teams play hockey longer than you've been alive. Tonight's performance by the Gophers was not emblematic of the teams I've been accustomed to seeing over the six decades in which I've seen Minnesota play.

The combination of a late PPG in the first period followed by Anthony Maiani's goal early in the second period put the Pioneers firmly in control and drained the life out of the Gophers. Unlike last night's game I never had the feeling that Minnesota could mount a challenge to get back in the game.

Having said that let me add that Denver played impressively tonight. Colborne had a hat trick, Maiani added a nice effort in the second and senior Brian Gifford--a Minnesota boy--scored his first of the season late in game on a power play.

I feel sorry for Marc Cheverie who lost a shutout in the 59th minute last night and in the 60th minute tonight, both times on odd bounces/deflections on which he had no chance.

If Denver plays the way it did tonight over the course of the remainder of the season the Pioneers could author a memorable finish to their season. I'll be interested to see if Denver maintains purpose and focus next weekend when Michigan Tech comes to town. The Huskies are having a tough season, but Denver cannot afford to let complacency creep into its lockerroom at this point in the season.

There's still lots of hockey left in the season and as Denver fan I have reason to be optimistic about the team's chances in the postseason. :)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 102: Hockey Sucks!!!

Shot: after the 2nd goal, I looked up maps of France. 3rd goal? I found my white flag. And turned in my tArrogance Card temporarily (yeah, serious). 4th goal? Shrugged. 5th? Sighed.

MN wasn't coming back after the 2nd goal, I agree. They are dunzo, finis, kaput, fin, f* it all.

So, let's lose the rest, and f* everyone else over by not being a TUC. I am an emotional wreck right now.

DU is making a serious run this season. F4 at the least, from what I've seen.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 102: Hockey Sucks!!!

DU was solid the last two years and folded in the NCAA's. How a team looks now isn't necessarily how it'll look at the end of March.

As for MN, they are who I thought they were months ago. Nothing to do but wait for it all to end. Watching this team is like having a terminal illness and waiting to be taken off life support. It's time to pull the plug on Lucia.

Maps of France. I like it. Good one. Believe me I can sympathize with how you feel about your team this year. After DU won back-to-back titles last decade the Pioneers made a habit of terrific first halves of the season followed by running out of gas in the second half and then being dismissed early in the postseason.

Denver has had some terrific goalies in the last ten years with Adam Berkhoel, Wade Dubliewicz and Peter Mannino being among them. In all honesty, right now Marc Cheverie is playing as well as any of those kids. He's playing well enough to give the team in front of him a realistic shot at going deep into the postseason with great success.

Brent, I imagine that like most Minnesota hockey fans right now the question foremost in your mind regarding this year's team is: When does spring football start?

Hang in there. :D

What kills me is that I'll never leave this team. Much like an abused girlfriend/wife, I'm there until the end. There's no "Burning Bed" in my future:eek: :o

While I love goalies to a fault, but realize the Hobey chances and act accordingly, Chevy deserves it. Honestly.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 102: Hockey Sucks!!!

I think this year's DU team reminds me a little of MSU with Miller from a decade ago: not much scoring depth but an all-world goalie who can offset it.
