Re: Rep Retirement #151: Stop Letting Baukin make polls!

One (potentially long) week lies ahead, with vacation looming the week of the 4th.
Finally smartened up and did NOT take vacation around the 4th where we have to deal with the Richard Craniums of the family. When the CF gets really crazy (people who may or may not show up that day because they can't make a commitiment. either 7 more people are coming for dinner or not..) I will be at work. By the time I get up there it will all have settled in. Well, I can be hopeful, anyway.

Re: Rep Retirement #151: Stop Letting Baukin make polls!

Yeah, I'll be glad to put the Fourth behind me pretty soon, and not soon enough.
Eching that. Used to be a great time. Now is a CF of the yr as far as family. All the Richard Craniums in one place at teh same time. The person who invites everyone doesn't want to make waves so the Richards take full advantage. Repeating pattern in that side of the family. No one is supposed to say anything but everyone fumes that the stuff keeps on happening. Gee, I wonder why when you all try to hush anyone who says something. Used to be my favorite time to see everyone. Now it is something to endure. Working instead of taking vacation so I can't experience the full joy of it. :(

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!! moanin' monday

Re: Rep Retirement #151: Stop Letting Baukin make polls!

Morning!

I have the week of the 4th off, as I will be busy moving in to my new apt. Also will get to introduce my parents to the SO for the first time.

I hope Pittsburgh has cool fireworks over the river(s).

Good Morning Lodge.

Don't have enough vacation to take time off the week of the 4th so it'll just be Wednesday off. Have to use my PTO later in July to go to wedding in Indiana and maybe some more later to go get FIL and move him out to live with us.

Good Morning.

Back at my desk. I decided to take Thursday and Friday off of the week of the 4th. The girlfriend only will be home for about 10 days, before she has to go out west again, so we're planning to take advantage of her time back home.

Good Morning, Lodge!

I did really well this weekend at the artisan show. Broke even!

Making the last leg of your journey today? We did it all in one shot. I love road trips and driving on new highways. :)

Yeah. We all are not fans of long one day trips. Plus we then get to find more greasy spoons ans mom and pop diners. Ones where a 52 year old waitress (who was a grandma) gives you the remote control to the diner's tv and asks you what the difference is between a Brazilian butt and an American butt.

Not that anything like that happened to us yesterday morning in Traverse City.......... ;)

And goldy: :(

Re: Rep Retirement #151: Stop Letting Baukin make polls!

Good morning Lodge and happy Monday. I'm kinda hoping it won't be too crazy this week. Finalizing plans for the 4th. Will be at work Monday and Tuesday till about 3pm. Then over to the Esplanade for the July 3rd show. The entire show from the 4th is done on the 3rd. They record it in case something awful happens on the 4th. The only thing they don't do on the 3rd is the fireworks. Got awesome news on Saturday - the Dropkick Murphys will be performing. I had been waiting all week for confirmation on their appearance. So "Shiping Up To Boston" played in Boston with the Boston Pops Orchestra should be a blast!! They won't be on the nationally televised portion but for those locally who watch the local portion will get to see them. Then I'm taking the 5th and 6th off. Because it's time I took some time for me.

Getting ready for some rain here in about an hour. Looks dark and threatening.

Have to . . . go to wedding in Indiana . . .

God's country!

Morning, Loj.

Say RFalph! (Patman, too, you're a DC guy.) My daughter had a nice moment in DC. She and her troop were going down into the Metro, and they just missed a train. Then the doors opened again for that last-second adjustment they do sometimes, and my daughter -- who's been riding the subway in Hong Kong the last 4 years -- pounced, and was on the subway in a flash. Naturally the noobs travelling with her were navel-gazing by that point, and so the doors shut, and off goes my daughter, all alone on the Blue/Orange Line.

Fortunately it's pretty civilized on the Metro, and an attendant was right there on the platform; they called ahead to the next station, where someone got my daughter and put her on the train coming back. Ten minutes later and everything was back to normal. Still, my wife, who's there as a chaperone, said all her cool, calm, "my kids know how to handle themselves in the city" attitude was GONE when that train pulled away. :o

It's more fun that way. We made a couple stops because I wanted to see some local sights.

Re: Rep Retirement #151: Stop Letting Baukin make polls!

There was no way I was going to stretch that trip out for another day. It had been 17 days since I had slept in my own bed, and there was nothing else to do on Sunday but drive back to MN.

Road trips are fun but as long as I'm not driving. Anything longer than about an hour starts to tick me off, or worse yet I start to nod off a bit.
