I like the tame thunderstorms, not the violent ones. The violent ones cause too many issues for too many people. It is unnerving to hear people say how much they love violent storms. Back home, hail has destroyed 1000's of acres of crops and floods have also taken out a significant amount of acreage. I can't see it as a good thing when peoples' livlihood is getting destroyed.

OTOH, seeing a week tornado hit a few miles from the house is kind of cool in a being-awed-by-Mother-Nature sort of way. It's been a long time since I've seen one of those.

No cares about the state of the farms, as long as the grocery stores are okay.
They'll care when the price of a microwavable burrito goes up 5 bucks.
. The whole experience: watching it go from sunny to super-dark (close to night-time darkness) at 5 in the afternoon on a summer day, then boomholyeffinsh*whatthehellishappening?!" then the calm afterwards.
Was at a BU Alumni event at Fenway Park tonight. One of the executives for the Red Sox is an alum and he got an alumni award. The event was at the EMC Club at Fenway. They had a presentation about how Kenmore Sq. has changed over the years due to the Sox and BU. It was pretty cool to see old photos of the area from a million years ago. Coach Parker was there, he spoke. One of the guys on the Friends board is now a tour guide at Fenway so he took me and a couple others up to the press box to walk around up there. Pretty neat. I left there to head home and stopped at UBURGER in Kenmore Sq. cuz I was starving. Sitting there by myself eating, reading my Us Weekly no less, and who walks in to get something to eat? Coach Parker. So he came over to sit with for a bit while he waited for his food. That was fun.
It's supposed to be 121 on Thursday in Death Valley, with a low of 90.
It has changed SO MUCH! WE went to the Island Creek Oyster Bar when we were in town a couple of weeks ago. It's NICE in Kenmore. Where're the bums? Where're the rats? Where's Captain Nemo's?
did they get a good turnout? i was gonna go, but i didn't want the strong arm for more money to good ole' bu
Captain Nemo's came up a couple of times during the presentation. So did the Rathskellar. And Narcissus (which was Lucifer's before that). And iHop. At which point I yelled out "It was Charlie's before that!!" When I worked at the BU Bookstore I got off the green line and walked to Charlie's every morning for a grilled corn muffin. One day I got there and there was a big CLOSED sign on it. I literally stood there for about a minute and a half thinking "Um, now what do I do???" I was waiting for the inevitable Mr. Butch story, but that never came.
I was woken up by lightning and wind. Why are you awake at this time? I didn't think you were usually up this early.
