Re: Rep Lodge Thread 89: As The Holidays Approach

I just got a rundown today at work on the planned trips for me and my co-worker. Some of them will be both of us traveling, some will be just one of us, and we don't know which are which yet. Here is the list of possible business travel for me:
Georgia
Upstate New York
Grand Forks, ND
Amsterdam:eek:
Australia:eek:

Re: Rep Lodge Thread 89: As The Holidays Approach

You gotta love government :D Shoot, our travel system is much easier, even though I work for the state.

How do you get to book your own flight though? I have friends in the USDA who complain about how they have to use the government-contracted travel agent to book flights, even when they could get them much cheaper if they booked themselves.

oh, yeah, its like that... DoC uses "AdTrav" to book flights... ended up in a tight situation on my move down due to a "sudden" (two weeks) change of plans. The ticket was reserved but not paid for

The good thing, so I've been told, is that you can get gov't rates for hotels by just flashing the good ol' work ID business travel or not. I don't know if you need a gov't credit card for that.

edit: thankfully, other than conference travel, there isn't much I have to travel for... and it'll be awhile at least a year until I get into a position to present my work.

edit #2: the idea of the gov't credit card just seems really screwed up though.

The executive chef at Chez Shot created a masterpiece for tonight's dinner: Chicken-butternnut squash tagine with pine nut couscous. [It's a Morrocan stew]. She improvised on a recipe and it yielded terrific results. And there are leftovers. :D

Not sure yet. My managers haven't given us details since the project hasn't been contracted yet.

That would be awesome. But I have a bad feeling that I won't get to go there, since my coworker seemed to want to go there and he has more seniority. On the bright side, if he wants to go to Australia, I'll probably be the one to go to Amsterdam. :D

TWITCH SMASH!

So guess who's likely not going to Vegas after all?

The way federal trips for classes work, you get them approved, then book the flight/hotel yourself using your government credit card, then submit a request to the employee learning department so they can register you for the class and pay for it on a separate credit card. Of course, there was a paperwork foul-up in registration, and during the ensuing delay, the class filled

At least I have an excuse to buy that new laptop now. Xanatos Gambit, how I love thee.

I think this post would be better if it had a picture of you with your clothes all ripped up and picking up like a fake rock perhaps. ;) :D

Sorry about Vegas, but just think of how much more fun you'll have with the new computer.

Not sure how I feel about pictures of Twitch with his clothes all ripped up.

Yaaaa, upstate NY is a pretty vague term too. Covers basically 30 minutes north of NYC to Buffalo and everything north from there:rolleyes:

Got myself another wicked sweet schedule for next semester, friday's off again so I can ski/travel to various hockey games. However, my schedule doesn't really agree with me thinking much about being in Detroit in April at this point, let along my wallet telling me no. We'll see what happens.

I thought The Institution banninated all hobo-ness for Homecoming?

They didn't "ban" it...they're trying to sweep it under the rug in hopes it vanishes with student turnover. No uprisings that way. ********.

Yeah I know...I really don't have any more info than that either. As vague as "upstate New York" is, I think "Australia" is a bit more vague.:p

edit:
Just got a call from my dad, apparently our deer season started early, my dad got one tonight....with the combine. Sucked him through the header, luckily the bastard didn't get into the feeder house. Nice 10 pointer, apparently.

Best type of hunting there is, my dad saw a 6pt get hit last week by our house and saw it running around afterwards, found it this afternoon dead 70 yds from his stand

Yeah, but this was going 4 mph through a corn field, with the header running. Sucked it in, ground it up a little bit, apparently it was quite the bloody mess, but my cousin was still able to cut off the rack.

Sort of. You'll likely end up in either Perth, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane or Canberra. Those are all the major ports of call there. If they say they're sending you to central Australia, try to say "No" really fast.

Yeah, that had to been a mess. And worse of all, probably couldn't get any tasty venison from it either.
