Re: Rep Lodge 126: Merry ****ing Festivus!!!!

So I think I'm going to go ahead and transfer to an Alaska driver's license this weekend. Problem with this is, the written exam up here ranks in difficulty somewhere between the third level of Battletoads and eating the sun. Lots of really random questions/answers that go against common sense. Pretty much everyone I talked to up here has failed it or has at least come close.

Since I'm not going anywhere for Christmas, I decided to take the upcoming two Fridays off. I'll do it this Friday, so if I blow it I can try again the next day (they're open Saturday) and if I blow it again I've got two more chances after that.

Any tricks that will help get me through this? (Aside from studying the little manual, of course.)

ETA: Anyone else noticing a glitch where it repeats the last word of a line of your post at the start of the next line?

Re: Rep Lodge 126: Merry ****ing Festivus!!!!

Just got back from having Key's Cafe breakfast for my lunch. Oh, so yummy.
Scanning a car computer and knowing what to do afterwards are 2 different things. There can be multiple reasons a code gets set, throwing parts at an issue doesn't always fix it. It pays to have a relationship with a shop you can trust.
I guess I've never had a problem with that. Whenever I have had a code thrown it has been something like "low O2 sensor voltage" or "turbine wheel soot accumulation", the first was on my old truck, a V8 gas engine, so I just ignored it, and eventually just punched out the cat with a chunk of rebar. The second is on my new truck and it is a stupid code to deal with, so when it pops up I just drive extra aggresive for a couple days, burn off the soot and the code goes away. If I ever have a problem with my engine, I'm not letting a dealer diagnose it, I have the engineering level software to talk to the ECM, that no one at Dodge even gets to have their grubby hands on. I can go as deep into the engine diagnostics as is possible, including modifyinig fueling tables line-by-line.

edit: Also, if there was a problem, I'd know how to fix it. ;)

mookie - just got back from lunch at your F4 hotel. Nice burger - blue cheese, sauteed shrooms, Nuske bacon, mmm. Glad I don't have a cholesterol test tomorrow like my co-worker does... ;)

ETA: forgot to mention that the ref at our peewee game the other night was one of the Carlson brothers - the one who was NOT in Slapshot. FYI, the three Carlson brothers from Virgina, MN were the models for the Hanson brothers and two of the three actors in the movie were Carlson brothers. The one who reffed our game looks like he might have been in a hockey fight, or twenty.

Bob, you are going to make a fantastic husband someday. Just sayin'. :D
Thanks! I'm trying my best.

ahem.......

But can he fold a fitted sheet?? If you can do that Bob, then you're in full fledged Martha Steward territory.
Yes, I can. Mom taught me well.

Morning people who are up ridiculously early even by my standards. :)
And a fine good afternoon to you too.

Afternoon Lodge. Just got a call from my doctor informing me that I need to keep taking iron supplements. Instead, I think I'll talk to Creswick Farms about purchasing a side of steer. I'll carve off what I want, then ride the rest home...

Yeah, bought it back in college (1 year, used). Much lower price, lower insurance, less likely to kill myself driving maniacally.
But the "kill yourself factor" is one of the best selling points for a car. In high school my buddy had a '74 454 Stingray Corvette, which he proceeded to muscle out a bit, lets just say that GM should have gone with a speedo that went higher than 160  I've never held onto an oh' **** bar tighter in my life. At one point he also had a stroked and bored '66 Mustang with high performance Holley Carb, Hooker Headers, American Thunder Exhaust, MSD Ignition components. That **** Mustang got up to 150, and let me tell you, a '66 Mustang is not meant to go that fast, the whole thing shook and shuddered, hell the **** thing had drum brakes! I'm more and more suprised by the day that I didn't end up dead somehow during high school.

Re: Rep Lodge 126: Merry ****ing Festivus!!!!

Our ski weekend is looking better by the day. Our niece and her longtime boyfriend are joining us. Earlier today that young lady spoke with my wife to ask if a lifelong friend of hers and her boyfriend could join us for the weekend. We said "sure." That makes two couples in their twenties along with me and my wife. Still waiting to hear if my sister-in-law and her husband will be joining us. So at least six of us and perhaps as many as eight will be heading to the hills.

Skis are all edged and waxed. The conditions are good and the weather looks favorable. Really looking forward to getting out on the slopes for the first time this season.:)

Afternoon tLodge. So, had surgery on my nose yesterday to get it straightened up a bit. I guess it only took 5-10 minutes. Glasses don't fit over the splint that well though. I think I can take it off by tonight though.

Also for the computer people...what is iertuil.dll and why won't it let windows start up?

Re: Rep Lodge 126: Merry ****ing Festivus!!!!

must... refrain... from... posting... something... crude... :p
Good idea.

Applied for health insurance today, now I have an incredible headache. What a mess & moreso if you have something in your medical history you'd rather forget.
:(

Hope the nose unswells soon MNS.

I am home from work early (only left 4 hours after the end of my shift instead of 6-8. Yippee!!)
