Rensselaer Engineers: Pick to Click: 2012-13 Edition

Re: Rensselaer Engineers: Pick to Click: 2012-13 Edition

Go Tute Tonight! Who is gonna play in net tonight? Best of luck RPI !

Re: Rensselaer Engineers: Pick to Click: 2012-13 Edition

I'm taking credit for RPI's win over Yale last night. By picking Malcom, I obviously cursed him.:p

I think I'm going to require that someone picks the opposing goalie from now on! Who wants to volunteer for our games against St. Cloud? :D

Congratulations to engineerhockeyfan, REDaero91, and vizoroo! It was the first win for REDaero and vizoroo while it was ehf's second. ehf is a very hot-and-cold player; this is the first time he's scored a point in four weeks. ehf and vizoroo moved up from T-6 to T-4 while REDaero is starting her climb up the standings. hawthr still holds the overall lead and still holds a 2-point lead over Ralph.

On Friday, Milos Bubela (ehf, REDaero, and vizoroo... gee who could have seen that coming?), who scored the game-winning goal and assisted on RPI's first and fifth goal of the game, Ryan Haggerty (hawthr and RPIHFH), who scored RPI's sixth and assisted on their third and fourth, and Curtis Leonard (nobody), who assisted on Bubela's goal and also assisted on RPI's fifth, were the three most useful RPI players. Yale's only goal came from their top-scoring defenseman and was unassisted. So, no points there. Despite that fact, ten of the thirteen posters tallied points on Friday.

On Saturday, Matt Neal (ehf) entered back into the lineup and gave RPI its second lead of the night. Haggerty was the other goal-scorer, but was more useful on Friday. Chris Zaires (cnor, lugnut, and FlagDUDE) scored Brown's game-tying goal, making him the most useful Bears player.

The lead-in post against St. Cloud State will be posted after the Huskies play Colorado College.

Re: Rensselaer Engineers: Pick to Click: 2012-13 Edition

I am guessing that I got my change for Saturday's game in too late. But Ralph should have gotten credit for a goal Saturday night since he either had Neal or Haggerty.

Correct. Picks froze at puck drop on Friday.

Ralph got 2 points from Zalewski's goal on Friday and 2 from Haggerty's goal on Saturday.

Re: Rensselaer Engineers: Pick to Click: 2012-13 Edition

Trivia time: I suspected that this combined 7-point weekend for the men's and women's Engineers teams was a rare event (during the 8-year Div 1 era for the women), so I went back and checked. They have had 3 other 7-point weekends and one 8-pointer. The last 7 point weekend was Jan 22-23, 2010, when the women beat Dartmouth and Harvard on the road while the men beat Dartmouth and tied Harvard at home. The only 8 point weekend was a non-conf weekend, Oct. 19-20, 2007 when the women beat Maine twice and the men beat Army and Sacred Heart. They followed up the following weekend with 7 points when the women tied Yale and beat Brown while the men beat Union and Colgate. The other 7-pointer was Oct 24-25, 2008 when the women beat Niagara twice and the men tied Union and beat RMU.

Hab, you probably meant to put that in the season thread.

Re: Rensselaer Engineers: Pick to Click: 2012-13 Edition

Link back to the title post with details on scoring

St. Cloud finished off their sweep of Colorado College, meaning that they are on a three-game winning streak heading into this series with the Engineers. The Huskies' non-conference slate so far has seen them get swept in Durham, NH before sweeping the UAH Chargers at home.

Sacred Heart is on a five-game losing streak and is still winless on the season.

Now for a history lesson, RPI and SCSU have played three two-game series against each other, splitting in 1988 and 2002 before going to St. Cloud in 2003 and sweeping. The Huskies are 1-3-0 at home against RPI, but they haven't played since Appert became coach. RPI and Sacred Heart's history is a bit more shallow, with all of their games having been played since the 03-04 season, although they did not face each other in either of the two previous seasons. All of the games between the Pioneers and the Engineers have happened in Troy and the homestanding Engineers are 3-2-0 against the visiting Pioneers.

You may not choose the following players for this game:
Rensselaer: Jacob Laliberte NOR Nick Bailen
St. Cloud State: Drew LeBlanc NOR Nick Jensen
Sacred Heart: Brian Sheehan

St. Cloud: Statistics | Roster

Re: Rensselaer Engineers: Pick to Click: 2012-13 Edition

As a reminder, if you need to change your picks... especially if it's been a day or more since you originally posted them or it's game day, then please make a new post to dictate those changes. viz, I missed your change from St. Denis to Samuels-Thomas a couple weekends ago because you didn't put the change in a new post. Luckily, JS-T didn't score or else there would have been unnecessary hoopla.

Good luck to all this coming weekend!
