Truth is, I find myself on the line between Progressive, Social Justice-minded Christian and Humanist.

Can't you do it one on one with the pastor? Baptism & Confirmation don't require a congregation.

I don't think that's really the point. Amber's church is her family now, and she wants to be confirmed in front of her family.

For Confirmation, bear in mind the regional Bishop was coming. That was huge.

And I've missed Communion and Coffee Hour at my church. The rituals ARE important. I miss my family.

At this point, if churches want to stay open, let em. Not because I'm anti-Christian, because I'm all in favor of letting not smart people take themselves out of the gene pool.
