Reforming College Hockey

Re: Reforming College Hockey

Ruined? Nah. Trivialized, perhaps, but not ruined.

If my suggestion of uniting Division I and Junior Hockey were implemented we could be spared all the yapping about "which team was hurt most by defections to the pros." Plus attendance and profits would go up, costs to the schools would go down, the level of play would improve, academic shennanigans and recruiting violations would vanish, and free-market capitalism would reign supreme.
I'm puzzled by the violent reaction to this modest proposal. Aren't athletic scholarships a form of socialism; another giveaway program? Who can these angry protesters be but anti-business, flaming liberals?

Your solution isn't modest and the things that you say will occur won't except maybe for certain places. I am dumbfounded that you don't see nor understand this.

I don't think you've ever proven that it would indeed be profitable, nor have you adequately responded to a number of objections dealing primarily with the fiscal concerns of your plan (mine for example). I look forward to responding to you pro-business answer with a communist firestorm.

Re: Reforming College Hockey

Why? Because they teach how to use the apostrophe? Because they discriminate between homonyms such as "their" and "there?" Because, like Orwell [a name on my list], they believe sloppy writing is the result of sloppy thinking, and vice versa?

Their, there, they're??

And Orwell was wrong. But, what do you expect from a writer other then to try to trump up the importance of their profession?

Many great thinkers don't write well. Its why the profession of Secretary was created and people like you have a job.

Re: Reforming College Hockey

You did say a couple more track stars. Since Florence Griffith-Joyner isn't there, how about Jackie Joyner-Kersee?
