Redemption....Ground Hog Day

Re: Redemption....Ground Hog Day

"It's tough to beat a team three times during the same season"

That cliche worked for Owsego, you know :D

Re: Redemption....Ground Hog Day

Here we go Norwich, pay back time! What a game this will be.

Re: Redemption....Ground Hog Day

Two movie titles to hype the rematch of Babson vs Norwich. Can the Cadets beat the Beavers?

Absolutely. They will need to hustle and hopefully score early and often. It should be a great game and I am looking forward to it.

If the motivation of revenge for last week and the desire for the seniors to go out on top are not enough to beat Babson, I'll be very surprised.

Now to me the question of the week becomes, who does Norwich start in goal?

Re: Redemption....Ground Hog Day

Oh Lord... In a Testa vs. Klinger goaltending battle, I can only imagine how many OTs that would have to potential to go... 3? 4? More?

One of my best hockey memories ever was that final in Lake Placid in 2010. B. J. O' Brien and Klinger. Both goalies were just in the zone.

I can not remember the last time the Cadets lost to a team three times in the same year. In 2010-2011 we had lost to Plattsburgh twice but managed to pull out an OT victory in the NCAA quarters @ Plattsburgh. Hopefully we have the same result against Babson this year. Go Cadets

My best non-Oswego hockey memory! My buddy and I took a beating for being late (very late) for our dinner reservations with our wives that night. Oh well, the place had plenty of wine to keep them busy while they waited:p

My wife was traveling with a Church group, and left me home alone. I drove back and forth from Northfield to Placid that year, because I decided to go by myself at the last minute.

Re: Redemption....Ground Hog Day

Ryan Klingensmith.

I wish (no disrespect to the current cadre of goaltenders).

While I've been going to Norwich hockey for only ~15 years, it seems to me that other than Klinger they have rarely had goalies who can takeover a game. He was outstanding in 2009-2010. They have always had very solid goaltending, but rarely goaltenders that can dominate and take over a game.

(P.S. before I get flamed, I do recognize that the importance of a good defense.)

Klinger was very, very good.

Here's one.
1999-2000 Randy Heavey 18-1 SV% .909 GAA 2.09

Beat Mastromarino (SSC) in ECAC East finals, Tyler Euverman (RIT) twice in NCAA quarters, Tom Pink (UWS) at UWS and Chad Moore (UST) in Championship.

Then in 2003 he was the guy they brought in against Trinity in the third, down 4-1, to "stop the bleeding" (thank you puckvoice!), and allow THE comeback.
And Eusko, Shieve, Ivanic, Boudreau, all had their moments.

and a darn good one IIRC. Made a trip to a national competition somewhere, maybe New Orleans?

Correct. Excellent student and a good guy. Like a number of NU goalies had a weaker senior season than his Junior season. Only one I recall who didn't was Klinger
