A sad day in the Hockey East and college hockey world. I have it on good authority that former Boston University and Hockey East PA announcer Jim Prior has passed away. Jim was well known and respected not only in these worlds but also in the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association Super 8 championships at the High School level.

Jim, you will be missed.

Very sad news. R.I.P. Jim.

Re: R.I.P. Jim Prior

Condolences to family and friends. Hands down the best PA announcer I ever heard. Really looked forward to listening to him at Walter Brown, Agganis, and the Garden. May heaven reverberate with his signature call, "the teams are ready so let's play hockey"!

Re: R.I.P. Jim Prior

This guy was the voice of hockey for me growing up as a kid. Very sad to see him go. Boston hockey will never be the same.

Re: R.I.P. Jim Prior

Definitely something many looked forward to hearing every year at the Hockey East Semis/Finals! He will be missed!!

Re: R.I.P. Jim Prior

There are some things that rise above even the most intense and bitter of rivalries, and the voice of Jim Prior was one of them.

Re: R.I.P. Jim Prior

Jim was a great guy. Always fun to chat with after the game. You could tell how much he loved hockey. I'm hoping BU does something for him during the upcoming season.

Re: R.I.P. Jim Prior

Kudos to BU for letting him stay even when not 100%
and honoring him on ice before a game last year

Was thinking of posting the same thing. He clearly was having challenges with the strength of his voice down the stretch, and I'm really glad that BU stuck with him to the end.

Yup
We all know what's going on out there without help from a voice. Mookie was just glad we got to finish it out with Jim.

Re: R.I.P. Jim Prior

RIP Jim. A sad day for all of us. Beanpot and HE tourney won't be the same with out him. To me ,hearing his voice at the Beanpot was something special and a part of the rivalry that we all cherish.
