Quinnipiac Bobcats 2024-25 - Meet me in St. Louis!

MarkEagleUSA

C'mon Q!
Lot's of new faces but they look legit. Today's exhibition was faced paced bu they had trouble finishing and NU's starting goalie was solid. The power play had some good looks but lacked a finisher.

If there's a weakness, it appears to be in net. Marinov was good but got caught out of position on goals 2 and 3. They had a few defensive miscues to go with everything else today.

All in all it was a good effort. Interesting to see 26 guys dressed... the bench was a bit crowded. That may have led to some of the problems as Rand kept mixing personnel all afternoon.

I feel that they'll be good once everything gels together.

Looking forward to another exciting season!

Go Q

Mark I agree. I am a bit nervous about our goaltending Marinov looked out of place quite often. He just odes not seem comfortable don't know if a bit of that has to do with the defense in front of him(who had a bunch of hiccup's). I would like to see more of what Silverstein can do. As you said it was interesting having so many players on the bench and could easily have lead to some of their issue. All in all I think they will work it and am looking forward to the coming year.

On a totally different topic. With it being an afternoon game my family was going to have a quick dinner etc at the game. But we were very disappointed in what they have done with the concessions at the bank. They really have limited the selection(I was hoping they would have expanded it) no coffee, ice cream and went from fries to bags of chips. and the chicken strips took a step down in quality. I get it its arena food but even that can be done well it does not to be overpriced and bad. Looks like we may be bringing snacks to the game even though your not supposed to.

As an alum from 20 years ago, it's comforting to see the food continues to be subpar on campus.

Having been to 10 of the 12 rinks in the ECAC, I can say our concessions ranks near the bottom of the league. I think it's the only bad feature at QU, because everything else at The Bank is fantastic.

It's not very often that I'll say nice things about Cornell, but their concessions at Lynah is the best I've seen in the league. Food selections are good, and prices are reasonable. Plus, the concession stands are spread out so the lines aren't terrible. I always look forward to my burger, pickle and chips when I'm at Lynah!

RPI, Colgate and Dartmouth all have good concessions too.

I just wanted to let you know that I will cheer for the Bobcats when the Dutchmen square off against Q'pac this year. You have a great new coach in Bennett. Ironically, the Union President who saw Bennett's ouster is being ousted himself.

Yea nice win. The first 2 periods they played a great game with their passing being on and lots of good chances on net. Third period I have no idea what happened but its like a different team showed up which is out of character as in the past the 3rd has been one of our best periods. I remember saying you cant count them out in the past they have a great 3rd period. As for goaltending Marinov had some good saves but overall has no reduced my concern with our goaltending.

An interesting opening night. Considering it was their first actual game I was impressed with the amount if skill this team has. And speed... there was no real drop off from the first line to the fourth. Once they solidify the lines and adapt to the system they will be a force to be reckoned with. I didn't see any glaring deficiencies in either end, just a few things to work on.

Marinov was good for the most part but he seems to get caught way out of position. Most obvious last night was PSU's second goal, a wrap-around that had him out past the far post as the puck went in. Positioning seems be be his weakness but I'm sure the staff will be working with him to address these issues.

I dont know if the third period was a dropoff on our part or Penn State finding a second wind. Either way, the staff will figure it out and get them pointed in the right direction.

On to Maine next weekend which will be a really good test for the boys.

Agree with all the points above. Team came out flying and I was impressed with the skill. Marinov out of position often and will make games interesting all season unless he figures it out. If that is his style, I am not a fan. Will be interesting if Rand gives Silverstein a start at Maine. I assume he may wait until the UNH series back home.

That being said so glad hockey season is back!

Tough loss last night. First period was a slog and they had to play catch up all night. Offense still needs time to gel especially the PP.

Maine capitalized, we didn't.

I thought Silverstein was OK but those huge rebounds scared me every time. He seemed comfortable and in position most of the night.

Offense had some chances but were lacking a finisher. Their passing seemed better than against PSU last week. Defense was solid for the most part but a few guys got caught flat footed. I agree that a little more time to gel will make a huge difference. They're not far off.

I'm expecting a tighter game with a different outcome tonight.

I’ve seen enough of Marinov to know that’s he’s not the guy. Way too many easy goals given up. Goaltending is a problem right now and I think they eventually have to go to Silverstein.

Though Marinov wasn't great, Q had that game won last night and blew it. Up 5-4 and on the power play to close the game, then a holding penalty by Pennington changed the outcome. Brutal way to lose a game.

I know it's early in the season, but this makes the upcoming home series against UNH huge. We really need to take 2 against the Wildcats.

After the euphoria of my Mets winning Friday I had to endure the boys getting swept by Maine followed by my Vikings losing yesterday and the Mets getting eliminated last night.

It was a painful weekend...

Ill say this' theres a ton of talent in the ice... all they need to do is gel together. This team can do some damage when they figure it out.

Too many little mistakes made this weekend. I loved the battle back on Saturday but ultimately lack of finish, a bad penalty and a blind goalie cost us.

I agree that there's low confidence in Marinov. Many times caught out of position. It may be me but it seemed the team even lacked some confidence in him

I'm sure Rand will get them sorted out but those two games are going to be hard to make up for if Maine stays strong.

I think a sweep at home this coming weekend is a must.

I agree. I missed the 1st period on Friday, but thought Silverstein looked good the rest of the way. We just couldn't put the puck in the net. Marinov really scares me because he will give up 4 goals on 5 shots but then looks solid for 20 minutes. He's too inconsistent and always seems to be out of position. This team can't afford to play him until the team gels more on offense.

That being said these young guys have high skill and will be fun to watch as the season goes on. I think we will be a pretty good team by the end of the season but the early schedule is tough so we may be out of it in the pairwise by then.

In regards to goalies, did I read correctly that the OHL kids may be able to play NCAA soon? Any possibility to add a goalie at the break?
