I thought it was pretty even. Quinnipiac skill was on display by taking advantage of UND defensive mistakes as well as some very excellent placed shots that resulted in goals. The first period was especially bad for UND. Need to shore things up defensively tomorrow.
If anything, I think QU showed they could play with any top tier team. Still early in the year, and both teams will clean things up in the coming weeks. More than 1/2 the NoDak Skaters are draft picks, and deservedly so. They are fast, skilled and smart. I liked QU's shooting. We're used to seeing 2-3 goals on 40 shots. They seem to be taking more quality shots this year and not just beating the hell out of the opponent goalie's logo. The game was wild and both teams left it all out there. Sometimes evenly matched teams look like ballet, other times like chaos. I think we saw a little of both.
I expect a letdown tonight. Definite NoDak momentum after last night, and I expect them to come out on fire tonight. QU will have to survive the onslaught and allow the game to slow down. I hope Perets is ok. NoDak's coach said in an interview after the game he though he had cramps. Hope that's all it is and not an injury.
First time I've watched a MidCo/NCHCTV feed. I was impressed. Production was excellent and the announcers were obviously NoDak supporters, but didn't go full out HOMER on us. They were fair, and very complimentary to the Bobcats. Excellent Job by the broadcast team.
