Quinnipiac Bobcats 2021-22 - Let's get this party started!

On a scale of 1-10, how pissed would QU fans be if BC came after Pecknold and he left? I would guess very high but never know from the outside looking in

Btw, I don't see BC going the direction of someone who isn't an alumni or BC asst history but you never know

I’d be surprised if Rand left QU for an NCAA job. I don’t even think he’d entertain an NHL job until his Kids were older. I hope his Son gets a chance to play for his dad.

Rand was pretty close to going to Providence a few years ago, so never say never.

He interviewed for the UMass job and turned it down. I don’t remember anything about Providence.

I also don't believe he will leave QU. It's his program and I don't see him going anywhere else. The only question in my mind is what the administration is prepared to do to keep him.

If he's interviewed elsewhere he obviously WOULD leave if the situation/money is right. But with that being a few years back maybe that has changed.

The following season was 12-13 when we went to the Frozen Four. His success since then is what I feel keeps him in Hamden.

Yes it was right before the Frozen Four season that they wanted Rand at UMass. Since then they have gone to 7 NCAA tournaments, 4 reguonal finals and two Frozen Fours being the runner up both times.

You're right, UMass. My mistake. And I agree with you about all that -- I'll be shocked if he leaves us to go somewhere else. I hope he never coaches anywhere else.

The rest of the ECAC "hates" us because of our success. I think we make the ECAC a better league overall.

That Cornell clown doesn't speak for the ECAC. The rest of the ECAC doesn't hate Quinnipiac. As an RPI fan, I like Quinnipiac and appreciate that they make the ECAC better as a whole. I hope Dave Smith can get RPI to their level as a program

I would be absolutely stunned if BC went after Rand. BC does not need or want a Jack Parker clone. Winning alone is not a BC thing, winning with class is and Jerry York exuded class. BC's next coach has to be both a winner and a class act.

The only way I see him leaving is for the NHL. Only if he decides he has done the college thing for long enough and is looking for a new challenge. And if there is interest from the NHL it might be for an assistant job. Making it all less likely.

Chances are that Rand stays and finishes his career at QU.

You are mistaking competitiveness for a perceived lack of class.

And if you don't think Rand is classy, you obviously haven't met him. I have. The guy exudes class. Sure he gets competitive during games and gets on the officials, and maybe he does more of that than other coaches in D-1, but the guy is really very classy despite that.

After 28 years I don't see any other option.

His sons are playing at a high level as well Tate is at Avon Old Farms and I think his younger son is on a high level midFairfield team. No idea if they have the talent to play D1 but it would be cool to see him coach his son(s)

Second, I believe Leahy and McDonald “talked $$$” him out of the UMass job. I think he’s comfortable at QU. Hopefully he can keep Coaches/recruiters long enough to keep the wins coming.

I appreciate the trolls livening up the off season. Rand ain’t going to BC. Why would he go to a program that has NEVER beaten him ;)

Schaefer and Rand hate each other and I love it. Cornell and QU don’t like each other but Ivy schools don’t want to consider anyone but another Ivy a rival, which is fine. We are outsiders and we know it. The Ivys are the biggest group of elitists, in terms of colleges, and they’ve earned that right. We are happy with the association from an administration side, Lahey never hid that.

If Rand isn’t liked, it’s by a select few for his compete level while his team is on the ice (ie the incident brought up with regard to him calling for embelishment). Not for who he is off the ice or for a lack of respect on how he’s built the program. For those who don’t believe that, you forget that he is continuously up (and has won) the Spencer Penrose Coach of the Year award that is voted on by, wait for it….the coaches. So there goes the he’s not liked narrative. A small group of Ivy fans would welcome our departure from the league cause they hate Rands guts, nothing to worry about.

I’m eagerly awaiting any further transfer news. Would really like to get a high end talent forward.

How about bringing in recruits and developing them like every other program has done for the past eight decades? Quinnipiac currently has 20 committed players and you’re chomping at the bit for more transfers?

We have one spot open in my opinion and none of the commits on our list are players I think are ready anyways. Some of them could use another year of juniors. Adding someone like a Casey Dornbach would be very helpful next season.
