Quinnipiac Bobcats 2019 ~ 2020 Season

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2019 ~ 2020 Season

Looking for a good weekend of hockey. The Bobcats go in as the favorites based on PWR so let's hope they play like it. Take nothing for granted. UConn seems to be hitting their stride and have some talent that can't be overlooked. They can't worry about tomorrow's opponent until today's games are done.

1 shift, 1 period, 1 game at a time.

Go Q!

3-2 Q. Sloppy at times but they managed to hang on for the win.

Now to see who our opponent will be tomorrow night.

SHU was impressive last night. Big, fast, and tenacious. We will need a solid effort both ways. The key will be defense limiting their chances. We have the advantage in net but KP will need to be on his game.

I think the turnout should be good. SHU had a huge contingent yesterday. Hoping to see a ton of Gold & Blue tonight.

Go Q!

"Sacred Heart played a nice game tonight and the BobKittens showed up in disarray....slappy hockey!

This Quinnipiac team growing right in front of us, but still not playing predictably winning hockey."

Congrats to SHU. They played like champions tonight.

We had a good 1st period but then the Pioneers took over. Our comeback attempts in the 3rd didn't pan out and never really recovered from the sloppy play in the 2nd.

Oh well, we'll have to settle for 2nd best in CT for now.

There’s no doubt who the best team in CT is right now. SHU plays as a team, they have speed and great sticks. Their sticks were in every lane on every pass.

I think Q tried to make the extra pass a few too many times and at other times tried to make the highlight pass instead of putting the puck on net. Carlis’ goal was a seeing eye missile. It went through at least 6 players and didn’t look like it touched anything or anyone.

Congratulations to CTIce champs SHU. Now back to ECAC play for the rest of the way. Thanks to SHU, we’re back on the outside looking in for pairwise. Something that could be rectified with a good weekend in Hamden next week. Let’s Go Bobcats!

Overall, the tourney seemed to be a success. The only downside appeared to be cost. I think it was too expensive to grab the casual fans, not to mention students. Tickets, parking, food, etc... it all adds up. The arena was nice but a bit too large. Attendance was great for SHU, decent for Quinnipiac, ok for UConn, and dismal for Yale. Even so, tonight wasn't even close to half full.

Yesterday's attendance listed as 5,724 for our game, and the title game today has a listed attendance of 4,631. That's pretty outstanding for college hockey in this area. They had over 10,000 fans through the doors this weekend. I hope this event is continued to decades to come.

Saw last night's game, wasn't able to catch tonight. Glad we beat UConn, sounds like a tough one tonight -- that's OK. The NCAA Tournament doesn't really seem realistic this year, but who knows.

They sold a multi session pass so the actual through the door attendance might be somewhat less. TV might have looked a little skewed for the finals as the side opposite the camera was the UCONN & Yale sections. Many of those fans left after the first game. I hope it does continue. It was nice to see the sponsorship and money out into the event. They completely rebranded the Ice and boards which gave it a more official look. Though I agree with Mark that the price was a bit high for a casual fan. I heard they offered 10.00 tickets to students with ID. From my few visits to see the sound tigers, it seemed concession pricing was their standard charges. Again, a little steep for a casual fan.

It was nice to see SHU celebrate, unfortunately at our expense. The program is getting there and that is a good thing for Hockey in our state.

I hadn't heard about the discounted student tickets. SHU had tremendous student turnout last night. Us, not so much.

Yeah I'm really happy for them. They announced this weekend they're building a new hockey arena on-campus which is extraordinary for an Atlantic Hockey club who gets friends and family only and has to play all its games at Webster Bank. Makes you wonder if they're going to try to do what we did and move up conferences. A 4,000 seat arena in the Atlantic league seems pretty large, so hopefully they can really get on track. Definitely a program on the rise.

Not sure who would have complained about SHU's celebration...

They played like champions and celebrated like champions. Good for them.

Any other team would have done the same. This tourney was THAT important to the 4 CT schools.

Sacred Herat arrived on a national hockey scene, in a televised tournament, beating big hockey powers to take the title and send the message out that they have a real program worth taking notice. I could care less, since they need to maintain it year over year like Quinnipiac and Yale have and UCONN shows they can buy the best talent from Moscow.

Also, the SNY camera coverage was superb!!

Not sure all D1 hockey games are like this, but Bobcats, especially our baby bobcats sometimes go into 'rush mode' slapping anything that moves.....reminding me of electric football game..*******http://img.gawkerassets.com/img/19cnbbxo9olnogif/ku-xlarge.gif********
