Quinnipiac Bobcats 2018-19 - Let's shuffle off to Buffalo

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2018-19 - Let's shuffle off to Buffalo

Not ready to hit the panic button but something seems amiss, and I think it's more than the loss of Fortunato. Shiplo has stepped up to fill the hole on D, and brings his offensive prowess to the back end.

Offensively there seemed to be a lot of freelancing out there this weekend instead of the cohesive play earlier in the season. Shot totals remain high but the grade A chances seem few and far between. Simply put, they're not finishing and that could be problematic if not corrected.

With 4 games left, every point is critical. While we're likely safe from a pairwise perspective, finishing the season strong and taking momentum into the ECAC's is important.

We have Clarkson, SLU, at Brown, at Yale left. Obviously SLU has to be a win. The other three games are tougher, though we really should expect 3 wins, or at least 2-1-1 from these last two weekends. And only one point behind Cornell in the race for the Cleary. We're also just two points ahead of Harvard for the bye. The ECAC is nuts this year -- the top 5 teams are separated by three points.

You're right, we're likely in the tournament. But let's see if we can't grab a 1 seed. That's got to be the goal now.

I thought Whitelaw went to the tournament winner, and Cleary went to the regular season winner?

The loss of Fortunato is major and is impacting the lack of offense in the last 3 games. I will throw out the 4 goals against Yale due to being played at home, a rivalry game against a team they have owned and the emotions of playing without him the first game out. 4 goals however in the last 3 games against lesser teams is unacceptable.

I know we keep it to hockey here, but big ups to the basketball team. Cameron Young scored a QU D-1 record 55 points today in a 3-OT win over Siena. Tied for 1st in the MAAC, and that group is battle-tested. Should be a fun next month up on the hill.

There are definite concerns. Yet this group has shown resilience. It's not going to be a smooth path, put the mouthgards in . Yet it is a path.....many would love to be in this situation.

They have, and they've done much more than any of us anticipated.

For sure. These kids have played their hearts out and deserve to be where they are. They just need to find that little extra to keep one step ahead. With only four games left, every point is critical.

Look at the #1 basketball team in the country, Duke, last night with Zion Williamson's injury. Dude could not get into the game mindset at all.

It will take some time for this team to rationalize there is a new rotation and Brandon is not coming back. SLU, Clarkson, Brown & Yale all are very tough teams and there are no soft, easy games the rest of 2019.

I await Qual's weekend writeup!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2018-19 - Let's shuffle off to Buffalo

Hopefully Brandon can partake in the senior night festivities on Saturday. That by itself should motivate the team.

I agree with you Mark along with a good win against SLU tonight.

coupled with a Cornell loss, it is a good night. If Brandon shows up at the Senior Night Saturday night and they take another win, we will be set up nicely going into the last weekend.

The Captains showed me a lot tonight. Chase Priskie, you are doing a great job leading this team out of the funk! No one wants to face the Bobcats in post season, they are re-developing that depth.

It was a good night but let's be honest... SLU was not very good. One of the most inept teams I've ever seen in D-I. Someone mentioned tonight that they looked worse than Union ever did back in their doormat days. Sad to see actually... St Lawrence has always been a good program.

Hopefully the success tonight doesn't go to their heads because Clarkson will be a bit tougher tomorrow.

Still, a win is a win and nice to see Bongiovanni get the hatty. Shortridge was once again stellar. I was glad to see Rand pull him for the 3rd. No need risking anything at that point. Of course, when Rafferty went off for the major I prayed that KP wouldn't let the Saints back in it.

Everyone looked good tonight and played hard. I think it was important for them to do that after the past 3 games.

Hopefully the league doesn’t give Rafferty the night off tomorrow.

Hopefully the league doesn’t give Rafferty the night off tomorrow.

It's in the book as a Game Misconduct so he's eligible on that point. It's his 2nd of the year (1st vs. UCONN), and given the PIM time, the other 10 minute was just a misconduct, so he should be good. Any more this year, though, and he's suspended.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2018-19 - Let's shuffle off to Buffalo

A great 1st period. An ugly 2 minutes to start the 2nd. The captain goes coast to coast to tie it and then the wheels fell off. Shorty was off a bit tonight, though he did make some huge saves. A few turnovers in the defensive zone and Clarkson buried them. They were the better team tonight.

On to next week. Need to take care of business ourselves and not look for help from others.

1st period looked good. But they lost to a much better hockey team and I think Clarkson is better than the Bobcats as are several teams. Bobcats had their run and now they look closer to done. Chase went end-to-end because the passing simply was terrible. They are not playing like a team. They look like rats on a hot tin roof....you cannot win with 1-timers, ineffective passing. I liked the fire coming out of Nick Jermain. This kid is playing very hard and knows what it was like to suffer last season and he came back to win. The Freshman all seem overwhelmed and under performing in every aspect. No more excuses, they are not going deep in post season playing like they have been, post Fortunato. DeJong not cutting it as replacement.

First line stunk tonight. Puck possession was awful. Clarkson was the more hungry and desperate team.
