Quinnipiac Bobcats 2018-19 - Let's shuffle off to Buffalo

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2018-19 - Let's shuffle off to Buffalo

Nothing at all to be ashamed of. It was a great season and the boys gave it their all.

The future is bright in Hamden.

On a personal note, my daughter went into labor at the end of the game. By the time we got home from Allentown I was a grandfather!

Congrats Mark!!!!

Congrats. You won the night despite a Quinnipiac loss.

Mark, congratulations! I await QU-AL's fabulous post-game review. I have always been a rhythm & cycle guy and cited the demise of previous teams from injuries...Brandon Fortunato's injury knocked the team from the orbit. The spacing change, the passing went to hell - - and I think loss of Junior F Nick Jermain last night was not filled..his experience and vigilance was unmatched by others game over game. He was able to get into the mix and heads of other players and that could've made a small difference last night in the 3rd period...but to me the final thesis was this stat on the power play: Before Brandon's injury: 28.7% with 20-5-1 record and after 17.1% with record of 5-4-1

I think the lack of more than 1 big hitter with Carlis and great stay-at-home defenseman. Puck movement, puck control was more reactive like a hot potato because the rotation and familiarity, spacing was off because of 1-2 player injuries. That is hockey, though...great season? I do not think next year is going to be a cake walk.

Big question: QU-Al, I have seen pipeline spread sheet of yours last season . . . what does that look like and when can we expect some fresh skaters that potentially can be impactful offensive players?

A huge BG congrats on a fine season, beating expectations and definitely something to build upon for next year! It just goes to show that if a team focuses on themselves and not what others think...great things can happen! A great two periods in the first game and third period in the second game. In my mind, your best players were Friedman (F) with not much ice time but made things happen and looked good on the attack in O zone, Rafferty (D) (poise and patient with puck), and Shortridge was very good!

Ethan Leyh and Skyler Brind'Amour should help up front. Maybe even redshirt freshman Guus van Nes will contribute. Defense will bring in Wyatt Head and Logan Britt and Boryshov as well.

I have to agree the guys had a great year and went farther than anyone thought they would but the loss of Fortunado was a huge hit. And with both him and Priskie gone next year I am more than a little worried about our defense even if Carlis and Rafferty come back. What the Brown and the NCAA tournament games say to me is what we will be lacking next year is someone that has the confidence and ability to bring the puck out of the zone without a lot of passing. Those teams that had an aggressive forecheck gave us fits once Fortunate was gone. Both Rafferty and Carlis did this to some extent after he left but no where near as well. I hope one of them most likely Rafferty as he is more offensive minded steps it up for next year or one of this years Freshman. I hope we dont loose either Rafferty or Carlis but I think it likely we loose Shortridge after how well he did this year.

deliberatore will continue to grow and is already darn good - if we can keep him for four years, he will be up there with some of the best D we've had
